The Droid TV thread

Thank you Sir! Im looking into it now. Is the stock remote good, or are there better alternative remotes?
I currently have a very similar box (OTT Android box). The remote is pretty useless, but a wireless mouse is a great alternative. I recently bought a cheap air mouse off Gearbest and I'm still deciding which works better.
You basically just use the remote to turn the box on and off and for the rest of the navigation you use the mouse and on screen keyboard.

Anybody know if one can locally get a Backlit android Remote/airmouse? Jacque? AV Supply?

You won't get one here.
Also the airmouses sold on Takealot are over 3 times the price of one bought overseas.
You can perhaps get an LED lamp or something to just make enough light to see in the dark or maybe another plan?
Most of the airmouses I've seen don't have a backlit except for one round keyboard type one.

I know the Rii i28 has a nice backlit keyboard, and can get off Amazon for about 46 dollars i think. But im not in the mood for importing and waiting.

Interesting, how difficult it is to get an airmouse or any of these remotes locally, without having to pay over a hell of a lot of money for it.

Not many people stock as most people who use these devices would rather import than pay markup

Yeh i understand that... Maybe xbmcfan should open up a store :D
Problem is all wireless devices require certification with Icasa. This costs a lot of money. You must then markup. Then nobody buys as it's half price importing...lol

The Rii i28, I will have to sell it for over R1400 just to break even :)
Clearance, shipping, taxes, reshipping, VAT, online e-commerce costs(7-8% of price, most services charge) and deal with lithium battery shipping and paperwork problems if I open a store.
And it includes a wifi chip, so I will have to register with ICASA and also pay R4000 to test the device for safety.
PS: ICASA is killing a lot of startups and people willing to open their own import business can't any more.

Aaah that sucks. :D

Might have to hit the import then.

Hey Guys, perfect timing with this discussion you're having.
I need a wife-friendly control method for my new Android box.
I have a Rii keyboard / mouse combo, but it's a bit big so she's not gonna be keen on that. I also have an airmouse, but that's gonna drive her mad.
Ideally I'd like an app that would let her move the mouse using her phone. Anybody know if anything like that exists? (So, like the Kodi remote app, but for the whole Android OS, so she can quit out of Kodi to use Google Music etc.)

There is an app like that called Fireasy/LeHome Assistant but it only works on Ugoos UT3/HPH NT-V6B devices I'm afraid.

Not sure what the darn it happened to my HPH box. Everything is running super slow, and scroll through menus is also very crappy. I rebooted, pulled the plug but still the same.

Apps have stopped working, and playing content off my external hard drive is jerky and stuttering. Im also trying to update some apps, but it wont update them either, just sits and says updating. Almost as if its stuck.

Xbmcfan, is there possibly an update i can run here?

Google Play store just comes up blank. Checking settings, and im getting no connection between router and media player. :( #sigh

Using my phone as a hotspot, and im getting a connection now. Somewhere something broke between my media player and router. My connection between my router and pc is fine, but the media player wont connect to my router via ethernet or wifi.

Getting a creating of media service device failed. Hmm that doesnt sound good.

Have you solved your problem?
What is the current firmware version you are using?
You can go to Android Settings, and do a factory reset or use a paperclip in the recovery opening, hold in and connect power, then you can also do a factory reset/clear cache.
A firmware update will solve everything, so don't worry :)
You can PM me then I will try to help further.

Got resolved, after doing a factory reset. But ill still check the firmware later, and then pm you that detail. :)

Yes got a email about change.

Would you mind updating your post and removing the email address?. I had to change the old one due to the amount of spam we were getting

Thanks
