Nice one! You just made DSTV aware of the loophole and this will cause a stoppage in service. 100% for sharing!

There are so many iptv services around which provide the same service and more. Its really not difficult to find. I highly doubt dstv can block any of them, the isp would probably have to do that.

I read somewhere that Amazon was instructed to destroy all Mi devices in their possession due to copyright infringement...

Utter nonsense. Amazon will destroy or confiscate any android device which is sold by a vendor promoting any type of piracy going forward. This will not effect any android box like mibox or nvidia shield which is sold vanilla without suggesting piracy potential

Amazon dont stock the Mi Box, it's sold by third party resellers.

Hi Guys,

I have just got a mibox and trying to get the best out of it...

@avir101 -- if you run the latest DSTV NOW APK 1.32.2, it works but you get the dimming issue.

@Damac10 -- if you run 1.6.4 (or the 1.6.4 apk i found) it works perfectly with no dimming.... but the ui and livetv interface are so broken you can hardly start watching unless you use a mouse to click the play buttons....

I am gonna test out a few other versions, it is nice to see the latest version working with the box, even with the dim issue....

anyone have any good tips or apps to use on the mibox?

Wonder if monochoice will really bring casting and airplay to this dstv now. Then one can do it straight onto the droid.

What a time to be alive

So after a week or so with the shield I must say I'm loving it. It just works.

No issues with Netflix, showmax or plex. Kodi was a breeze to set up using Indigo.

Only small issue is with the Supersport app that was side loaded, the white play button remains on screen while streaming but it's a minor irritation.

And then kidlet still wants to play hay day on TV.

Hi guys, it looks like the newer dstv now apps create leanback shortcuts? Maybe they are trying to support these devices?
@arzy could you try sideload the latest dstvnow app, and confirm if you see the dimming issue during playback

And now, for the underlying threat: Amazon will eventually also trash boxes with the ability to pirate streams. You can thank Kodi for this. AND to put the cherry on the cake, Kodi is working on code that will disable your Kodi system (go read and do not attack me and tell me it is rubbish) if you are found to run piracy streams using the Kodi software...

"Amazon appears to be well aware of the controversy, as it recently published an updated policy clarifying that pirate media players are not permitted on the platform. Merely ‘suggesting’ that devices can be used for infringing purposes is enough to have them delisted." - AND they can use forums like these (and reports by "stealers") to ban devices sold...

are you this negative about everything in life?

Besides, what is wrong with people taking steps to stop piracy? Android TV (and Kodi) has many non-piracy related functions. Why not use it for what it was built for?

Cool. So will Amazon ban the sale of all android smartphones? You do know that Kodi can be installed on any android device

It's not the device that's important in Amazon s new stance. This is targeted at sellers who expressly imply or promote piracy via any device . So any fully loaded adverts etc. If a resellers stipulated unlimited free TV in a smartphone listing it should get same treatment as boxes

Thanks, i was just logging on to post that exact feedback.

In terms of apps, I find that I'm using Terrarium alot (think it's based on showbox). Use the pro version, otherwise you won't get past the ads without a mouse.
