Does anybody else use the DSTV now app on their Xiaomi Mi Box have an issue with the very dim brightness during video playback?
Anyone know of a workaround or fix?

I have tested on 3 different mi boxes, and all have the issue, so it must be the app.
The Leanback interface is great though, apart from the brightness issue.

So i've been playing around with my new HPH NT-N8 droid box as is, out of the box. I'm not that technical so didn't do any firmware updates etc as yet. Everything seems pretty straightforward and simple to use. Besides the issues of the "STORAGE" folder spelled "STRORAGE" and getting a WEBPAGE error when pressing play on Netflix videos in the default browser (not dolphin browser), I'm having serious trouble with Kodi 17.1.

After installing Kodi i tried adding the fusion source but kept on getting an error "Unable to connect...this could be due to network not being connected". My URL is correct and this only happens when I connect to my wifi router (Huawei hg532f) on Vox ISP fatpipe line - all other apps/ browsing works fine. When i test connecting to my mobile hotspot (mtn) it adds the fusion source fine. Can someone please help explain as i'm not sure if it's something wrong with my router/ISP settings, the new Kodi 17.1 app, or my droid box?

Also whats better Android TV or Android on these boxes?

Maybe you can try one of the android apps such as Screen Adjuster. According to the feedback this app can improve the image quality of some dark Netflix scenes. There are many other similar apps.

Thanks, will give it a try, but in my case the brightness is not just a little off, but way too dim. I have to turn my brightness on my TV to almost 100%. I'm almost certain this is a bug in the DSTV app leanback interface.

I haven't noticed any issues watching DSTV Now on my mi box

I have tested DSTV Now on many Mi boxes without issue. Most likely one of the display settings in box like auto adapt. Try switching some of the display settings .

The quality is pretty good, not HD but very watchable.
I have almost no buffering on 10Mbps fibre.

Android TV is only available on a few boxes, like the Nvidia Shield and Xiaomi Mi Box.
It's pretty much Android with a launcher that has been designed for use on a TV with a remote. The only issue is that you have to sideload some apps (like DSTV now) because they have not released Android TV versions of the app.

That's so strange - I bought 5 units for friends and myself and all have the issue.
I have played with the display settings, with no luck, but I will check again.

What version of the app are you guys running?
Oh and are you using the new Mi Box that launched towards the end of last year (http://www.mi.com/en/mibox/)?

Mi box international android TV 6. When device arrives it has some firmware issues out the box. Make sure you do 500mb plus update which fixes Netflix 4K , Hevc playback etc before installing testing app. I have tested more than 10 and have three more arriving today/tomorrow with Aramex. Will test again .

Yeah, I did the update. I'm probably just going to do a factory reset and test.
Are you using the latest version of the app?
