Could you send me the SuperSport app?

Can one install dstv now? Does it work if you plan on trying it out

I just got it via google, apkpure if I remember correctly.

I didn't do DstvNow, wasn't planning on trying it.

Cool. I'm anxious to see if it works. If you do see it in the play store let me know..

Haven't had much chance to play with it yet, only got stuck into setting up it up late last night. So far all good though.

Roku 3 has been moved to another room in the house, ultrabook that was plugged into TV for Showmax and Supersport can be moved back to the study.

Just need to make some minor changes to my home network so that the Roku still has access to my Plex server.

As an aside, first thing my daughter asked was if she could play HayDay on the TV now when she saw the android logo.

As a second aside, in messing around last night I reached a point with the Supersport app where I thought I'd have to buy a wireless mouse for the TV. Right stick on the controller works like a mouse though, its not ideal, but it works.
Supersport channels work on app? Only highlights work on my nagrace box.

I'm assuming you should be able to sideload dstv now the same way I did supersport. I just don't have a need for it, everything we watch as a family is covered by showmax, netflix, youtube and plex.

Got my 2017 Shield today, lovely little device.

Setup was easy, Netflix, Plex and YouTube pre-installed. Showmax available from the app store. Supersport side loaded from an apk.

All running perfectly.

what exactly is this? like from a flashdrive?

Yes. You basically download the installer (apk) from a different source than the Play Store these include apkmirror and apkpure amongst others.

Copy that file only a USB and pop the it into the device you are using.

I then used ES file manager, or whatever else you have installed, to run the apk from the USB.

Just make sure you have changed your security settings to allow these installations.

So there's a name for it now. Been doing it for ages already.

Oh, and for those interested, total cost came to R3,700 including shipping and customs.
That is one sweet device! A bit out of my budget though. The Mi Box worked out at about R900, although fortunately I didn't have to pay shipping as a friend brought it over from the US.

Mibox with fast shipping and duty works out between R1700 and R2000. Worth every cent and cheaper than shield

Hi,

Didn't see to many good reviews about the MXQ pro device. Heating/ packing up issues. Search for Nagrace/Hph NT-N8 on this thread. In the same price cat. but way better reviews and an increasing demand for it. You have to order it from overseas via Aliexpress or Amazon tho. OR you can just speak to Scott's shipping services - you just pay him (very reasonable) and he handles everything. I'm also new to this world and ordered this device from him last week.. can't wait for it to arrive :D.. here's his link:

I have the HPH NT-V6 with 4GB ram. Great device. Lots of support for it from a custom firmware point of view.

Also looked at the MiBox, preference was with the shield though as I actually wanted to get it initially before settling on a roku 3.

The incremental cost makes sense imo to go for the shield...
100 percent price difference is not incremental. You can literally buy two mi box for price on one shield as device price becomes cheaper as you dont duplicate shipping and duty when ordering two. For gaming and Plex server functionality the nvidia shield is a must. But for standard 4 k playback in DRM based apps, normal DSTV now and kodi the mibox punches above its price

Netflix 4K? Amazon HDR?

I guess if requirements differ then probably. Official products are always best though, stock android etc. wish the nexus player was still around

Yes Netflix 4K HDR, YouTube 4K, Amazon loaded by prime launcher. HDR can't confirm as I don't have a HDR TV. Voice search via Bluetooth remote just like shield etc.
