The Droid TV thread

Yeah, dependent on your device mine wouldn't let me do it from the play store so I had to get it via the APK.

Ah, okay, I thought there was some special chrome apk over the regular one.

Stay away from any Rockchip device with Rk3229.

Out of interest, why? My bedroom tv box is a rk3229, runs very well. Doesn't run dstv or SS apps, but besides that, it's golden and was cheap as chips.

Rk3229 Firmware on Android boxes is generally borked. I have had a few. Sounds issues and even well known issue with youtube playback which is ridiculous in this day and age. Any cheap device also does not have hd Netflix etc... You can find a amlogic device for the same price without all the rockchip hassles. Even kodi has issues with rockchip due to their conduct and firmware

Interesting, I had no idea. Not that I've had any issues with my one (it used to be my primary lounge box and then moved to my room as I replaced my main one with an amlogic that plays dstv and SS etc). I use firmware releases from Freaktab for the device and it just keeps on running. I guess when/if it packs up, I'll go with another amlogic to replace it.

For people not used to flashing roms etc its just not worth the headache. Buy amlogic for same price and just enjoy your box. Amlogic also supports custom firmware. Dual Os. Most amlogic boxes even getting Android tv Os roms on freaktab. Now generic amlogic getting hd Netflix via custom rom

Thought so. Thanx @Damac10

Anyone experience this with the SS app?
It opens and scrolls pages at full screen, but won't live stream full screen??
DSTV app however will stream live SS1 channel at full screen.

Try plugging in a mouse in the box and click on the live feed to see if you can make it full screen.

I got the Mibox this weekend and was wondering how I would get free OTA channels (SABC/eTV) to play on it?

As far as I know, there isn't anyone that is steaming these channels that would be your only bet to get those channels on it.

just wanted to know if anyone is using a usb network adapter with the mibox successfully, mine does not work need one to connect Ethernet cable

LAN cable to small wifi router should do the trick. Iv got wifi in my lounge area so it's been pretty rock solid on that connection never saw a need for LAN unless infrastructure is your problem that side.

I have a compatible usb3.0 hub with gigabit ethernet. Just plug in and works. I know mibox is fussy
