HD streaming
As a mobile-first service at launch, DStv Now has only offered SD streaming.
This will change in the near future, however, with MultiChoice planning to launch HD streaming on the platform.
Speaking to TechCentral, Cumming said they are working to improve the streaming quality and want to get the resolution up to HD soon.
He said the resolution of content is rights dependent, and they are currently in discussions with suppliers to get HD content cleared.
The initial focus is on increasing the quality of the sports channels, which are the most popular on the DStv streaming service.
Cumming said that while it is not a technical challenge to move to HD, there are bandwidth requirements which must be met to improve streaming quality.
Great to see them rolling it out to more sports. There was an article on here alluding to this.

Is it only some channels that stream at 1280? I am currently watching supersport 1 and only have the option to stream at 960x540. Then supersport 3 has the 1280 option.Oh Helloo full quality SuperSport

That makes sense. Thanks very much. F1 is hd as you say and the soccer. Pity the TDF is not.Yeah, it's also more detailed 2 posts up. Content will be streamed when they have the rights to do so from the source in HD.
Formula 1 has been given the rights to stream HD thus the higher quality. Soccer is fee ally too along with some cricket matches I have seen.
I also noticed SS1 had F1 on yesterday and it gave me the option to change quality but after that reverted back to normal for the next Sport event.
I've tried 1.36.4 but it no longer works with the remote like 1.36.1?thanks , gonna try that.
my supersport app works with mouse and dstv app is fine too bar the dimming, but gonna load 1.36.4 and see if it sorts issue.
my adsl line is not the greatest so it might be useful to be able to chose resolution
Just got my Xioami Mi 3 TV box 6.0 android.
It's the international version and I must say it's better by far for streaming Exodus stuff etc.
Need to do some homework on it to sideload some apps etc and get a USB hub and external storage..
Very happy for the price R1699 but still lots of tweaking to do.

What's the easiest method to sideload apps (particularly DSTV Now & SuperSport)?
Yip, I havent tried yet but I have watched sideload on Google for Mi box.download them onto a stick and install them from there
Maybe the Amazon fire TV stick. Not sure about availability but it's an awesome stickIs there perhaps anything smaller than a android TV box that will support Kodi and apks? I have an android box but I just fitted in a new TV in a room and there's not much space, I was thinking maybe there was some stick that fits at the back of the TV and I could just leave it there and operate it with a remote but not sure of that's available.
