The Droid TV thread

Is this the M8 or different one. I was planning to buy the MX, but since it is out of stock, which to I buy now. Or shpuld I wait for a new one?

If you liked the spec of the MX, you'll love the MXIII

I'll let everyone know when they arrive

So the MXIII has the same hardware as the M8 but with less ram (1gb vs M8 2gb)? Will it come down to better firmware between the two boxes or are there other significant differences?

Same firmware but the 1GB version

Only other difference, M8 has Bluetooth

KitKat is really fast but I've only found 1 version of XBMC that plays HD smoothly

My suggestion is to wait for v2 of the KitKat ROM

ok guys finally got to play with my Droid yesterday.
1st impressions: AWESOME!
Dunno if I'm the only tech challenged guy here but for the benefit of others, XBMC it's not TOO difficult to use.
1- The hardest part was getting the remote app to work (I could not figure out how to find the IP of the droid).
I got this right and so far it's working well.
2- The other difficult part was XBMC not picking up certain of my TV Shows. I have subfolders in my TV Show folder on the HDD. I could find the shows in File Explorer but it didn't pick up with XBMC.
I then tried to manually add the show.
I eventually figured out that the subfolder was named "Marooned Season 2" when I changed it to Marooned XBMC included it.

3- Regarding the MX3 remote- I'm glad I went for this its really easy to use- the only frustrating part is the learning function- the manual is not too helpful and some of my learning buttons work, some don't- guess I'll need to try again.

4- The remote apps work fine but it would be awesome if there were on/off widget icons to make it easier to turn on multiple devices- receiver, projector, droid.

5- I still couldn't figure out how to use Sambadroid that Yotch mentioned. So I had to install Dropbox and load my files from there.

6- I don't know what launcher I have for the main menu but I don't like the look of it. I don't know how to change it or what options there are but I also don't wanna change it if it will jeopardize the smooth running of the unit that AvSupply set up for me.

I must mention that AVSupply are great- definitely awesome service.
I recommend them highly.

I also turned the droid off when not in use for a couple of hours but then realised that I don't do this with my phone- so I'm not sure what the correct procedure is.

thx bro
must the unit be turned off or can I leave it on "forever"?

thx. Can you suggest an idiot's guide to XBMC that I can d/l?

@silkman: Good to hear that you are up and running so quickly. Here are a few starter guides regarding transferring files between the DroidTVand a PC etc. if these are of any interest. There are many different ways to do this.
