The Droid TV thread

Thanks guys, I got the Samba to share successfully. I'm not a big fan of xbmc, but each to his own I guess. I want to know, I recently got an Galaxy S5. Any chance I could link the S5 IR remote to the Droid TV remote? Would be great if I can actually use the phone's keyboard too.

If you're asking if you can control the MX with your S5, the answer is yes. I think the remote app in the opening post should do.

Hi AVSupply

I'm looking to replace my ageing Asus EeeBox Atom PC which I bought 4 years back just for XBMC.

Just a couple of questions I was hoping you could answer:
- Does the MXiii support 1080P/24HZ in XBMC output ?
- Does the Amlogic S802 provide DD and DTS passthrough HDMI ? Any limitations on the passthrough side for certain soundtracks ?

Cheers and thanks. Looks like a great product.

Hi thewusman

Yes, the MXIII supports 1080p video and DTS audio playback

24Hz is possible but it's achieved using a settings page hack that sets the interface to run at 24Hz.

It's not ideal but it's the best we got until the interface supports auto switching the resolution from within XBMC

I'll run some tests with my unit and see what happens when I playback a 60Hz video

Hi AVSupply,

Have your 2GB MXIII units arrived yet? My hands are itching to get one of those.

Yes, they've been here since Saturday

Unfortunately Customs have flagged us for a random audit :(

Hopefully they released soon

Great news! Hopefully nothing went missing during the audit or you got hit with any unexpected charges :(

@prasanv: I am sure that the 2GB MXIII will be worth the wait!

@digitalp: Just curious what you have planned for all of those units?

Can't wait to get my hands dirty on this unit... Waiting................................................................ long enough now.

Hi Guys

I have a R6000 samsung galaxy note 2, can I not use this as a media player? What makes an android tv box better?

Thanks in advance.

You can, but it's not as convenient. Make sure that your battery is charged and a hassle if the phone rings.

@Darook: Most of us are controlling our units using an RF air mouse which really enhances the TV viewing experience. The RF receiver connects to one of the available USB ports. These devices integrate really well with the media player to give you a similar experience to having a large touch screen. You can just sit back on the couch and swipe left/right/up/down etc. and make your viewing selections.
I'm not sure whether this would be supported on a Galaxy Note 2. The MXIII also plays back 4K video as well as having a composite output for older CRT type TVs. This is definitely the most capable media player currently on the market and offers so much more than something like a WD TV Live etc. which sells for a similar price.
