The Droid TV thread

Funny I just tried a 3D 50GB iso last night- the movie played perfectly BUT in 2D?
Is this an XBMC setting cos it wasn't even blurry as it was supposed to be

I have 3x 3D movies where I kept the 3D part when creating an mkv, they don't play 3D but play as normal 2D as well.

sorry JvanD..don't understand.
So if I use mx player it will play fine in 3D?

@Silkman No, MX player won't play 3D BD ISO. It can Play SBS and OU rips but you will need to bit the 3D button on your TV remote control. Current XBMC cannot play 3D BD ISO but it can play the 3D SBS and OU. 3D BD ISO in XBMC will show in 2D. Hope this helps :-)

In future if AML releases their new SDK we might see support for 3D BD ISO in XBMC or equivalent applications. I don't like small rips as the quality needs be of the hook :-)

Thanks man- so I currently have no option of watching a 3D BD iso with an android box?

What temp do you guys get on your DroidTV, Im hitting 162 degree Fahrenheit so 60 degrees celsius when left on for 30min + playing SD content.

I have a ATV 1800, running @30 degc.

I switched to Linux recently, I remember when running 4.4.2 and hovering around 40 but can't confirm.
Anyway after that I used a shot Glass to raise the device so there's slightly more airflow than lying flat on wooden shelf.

@Hemps I blame heating issues on bad design. It can be controlled by kernel or ventelation. But its not acceptable for me. 40 degc is still pretty awesome.

Not using an app as apps only shows baterry sensors not actual temps. I use a temprature gun made by Fluke.

That will just be the surface temperature of the CPU component. It will be a lot hotter internally. I use an app called CpuTempPlus which gives the cpu temperature and the battery temperature. I will look at it tonight if I get a chance. Tonight is Tai Chi :)

Hey quadcore owners

Someone released an XBMC script that enables auto resolution switching. Videophiles can finally enjoy 24Hz film mode without any hacks. Only problem is the script was made for the MINIX X8

I believe it can be modified to work on the DroidTV M8 and MXIII, will confirm after testing it :)

@AVSupply: Let us know if you get the Minix XBMC 24Hz script working.

If anybody else is interested, here are some more details about the new budget DroidTV MXQ player that AVSupply will be bringing in. It uses the latest Amlogic S805 processor which includes 1080p HEVC support. It has only recently been released in China so there don't appear to be any reviews of the exact machine. Apparently it will retail for less than R1000 but you better speak to them regarding the retail pricing. The S805 processor is slightly slower than the S802 (1.5 vs 2.0GHz, A5 vs A9 quad core processor, quad vs octa core Mali 450 etc.) used in the MXIII but the MXQ will apparently also offer Bluetooth 4.0 which is not available on the cheapest MXIII as well as 1080p HEVC support which is not available on the S802. It offers good value if you are on a tight budget.

HEVC is H.265? Which will most likely be used for 4K? Awesome

Tested last night again, according to XBMC temp was 92c.
I felt device and although it was warm it didn't feel like 92c but rather 30c.
Internals will differ to enclosure i know.
