Are you running the latest 111k4 ROM?
My mxiii refuses to power on anymoreits a sad day.
A faulty power supply can damage the board, which is why I told you to leave it unplugged
Do you have another power supply to test with?
Those are nasty, don't use it.I only have one of those variable voltage power supplys.

Edit: I asume you are reffering to the one's in a plug box with a slider switch.
Are you on 111k4 now? HorusZA reported the same thing, and said it worked fine after a reboot
Update on that...
I installed 111k4 with Kodi 14 and initially had the same problems as before (x2 speed playback, play/buffer/play/buffer or forward/backward).
After a reboot everything worked fine... for a couple of days. The same problem started again but no amount of rebooting, clearing caches, etc. would fix it.
I've now uninstalled Kodi 14 and have given SPMC a try (based on XBMC 13.4). So far, so good but it hasn't seen a lot of use. Maybe it's time to consider a Intel NUC based solution for my HTPC requirements. Sure, it's a bit more expensive but it might prove to be a more stable platform.

What are you streaming your content off, and is it a specific format that causes your playback issues?
Content is on a NAS and is delivered via Cat5.
While I had intermittent issues with Gotham (playback would pause occasionally... I posted a full description of this problem earlier in this thread) the major problems I encountered with Kodi 14 go away as soon as I roll-back to XBMC 13.

That sounds like advanced settings xml file that needs tweaking.
I don't use XBMC so I'm stupid when it comes to that, maybe someone else knows on here, give it a Google![]()
