You need to have a DSTV Premium & PVR subscription or have someone who is willing to let you use their online profile.

You then install the DSTV Now app. Once installed you start the app. You will then be asked to install the DSTV Connect application where you input your login details. After this is finished verifying, you then can use DSTV now which has catchup as well as live streaming of some channels.

Just received my new MXIII remote today from AVSuply. It's very similar to the iMove gyro mouse keyboard combo that has long since reached its expiry date and died a slow painful death. I thought it was going to be a difficult transition for me moving over to another gyro mouse remote and so far I'm pretty damn impressed. It types awesome and seems to switch itself of faster than the old iMove gyro remote. Oh and the "b" key works ... Lol! When you turn it around it disables the mouse for typing on the keyboard. I also like the fact that it uses 2 batteries instead of 3 as I'm yet to find a recharger that caters for 3 batteries.

Here is a link to it if you are in need of a decent remote:

Thanks to AVSupply for the speedy delivery and care taken to package my new remote.

If you come from Fire TV using the MXIII is painful to use.

Slow
Apps not specifically designed for remote
Remote is so loud click click click

I've gone and loaded AMLINUX which is just basically XBMC/Kodi running on a cut down Linux kernel.

Much snappier and hell of a lot faster. Now to replace the stock remote.

No offense to the person who sold me the MXIII

Quick question which video add-on do you do you use for movies?

Gyro air mouse / keyboard combo remotes are much better IMHO.
IR remotes are crap.

Box is snappy in my opinion, I even game on mine. Coming from a Roku perspective it is slower but not that by that much. Not too user friendly as from what you are used to the FireTV. Wouldn't be able to do just XBMC as I run my whole AV / downloading etc off it.

Bought a Flirc IR receiver. Programmed my DSTV Xplora remote to it.

My little MXIII only Xbmc box with this remote works quite well.

FLIRC is awesome, not all IR remotes are equal I totally forgot about the FLIRC :-) Is there hardware acceleration on the code snake version on XBMC?

I've got hardware acceleration on mine. Xplora remote is a little slow but doable. I'm gonna save up and replace this with another firetv in a year or so.

Now to get ontapp plugin working on Gotham. Hmmm

The stock remote sucks, definitely get an airmouse. Most of your experience relates to the remote.

I went and changed the XBMC theme and ended up freezing the damn thing. Reboot go back to default theme and it has lost all my settings.

Seriously contemplating loading the normal image on this MXIII and selling it again.

I shouldn't keep comparing it to my FireTV.

Hi Lino

Were you running AMLinux firmware? Maybe try the openelec release before switching back to Android, available here -> http://amlinux.ru/image/5.0.6/OpenELEC-Amlogic.MX3.arm-5.0.6.zip
