The Droid TV thread

Is there a way to edit the dns settings on this box so I don't have to do it on my router?

It's best on the router IMHO.

You can on the box - go into either wifi or wired network settings and setup static IP addressing.

JvanD I am not running Android on it any more though, running ember on it.

Oh I see, haven't checked Ember out yet - is it Linux XBMC / Kodi like Codesnakes version - doubt if it can be done but dunno for sure.
Have you checked their development page?

My DroidTV MG582 received an automatic OTA update, and after that my remote is no longer working with the device and ALL my apps settings etc. have been removed :(

Please help me at least get my remote working again.
The apps and settings are gone I understand there's nothing I can do about it now.
Any advice on how I can avoid this in future?

Thanks

Hi Eduan

Please let me know if my suggestion via email resolves your issue?

Thanks

Hi AVSupply, remember me? :) Im a happy customer who bought an MX2 ages ago. I have been using the great little media player religiously over the last couple of months(years?). I have however run into a little problem, my media player is stuck at the boot screen and it seems like I cant boot to the recovery menu. Have this ever happened to you? Any advise? I have tried to re-flash to matricom mx2 1.2.2 firmware without success. Please help!

Also have an MX2. Found that XBMC/Kodi works a lot better on my Android phone. Win7 laptop. Linux Mint laptop and Windows 7 PC. How can I wipe the MX 2 and start afresh (with a slimmed down version of Linux?). Will the MX3 remote still work and can I then sync library and/or setting from a shared drive still to be hooked up to the Linux laptop or one of the windows systems?

Does the pin hole method work to enter recovery ? @Vexx

@JvanD, it doesn't go into the recovery menu using the toothpick menu, it is just stuck at the boot logo. I have tried Bootloop fix and Soft Brick Fix to fix the box without success, I dont even get to the recovery menu.

Ok, so I tried the following:

- Short pin 7-8, nothing seems to happen but I am not sure what to expect. It doesn't go to the recovery menu. Stuck at boot logo.
- Then I tried flashing to official matricom 1.1.5 and lo and behold it works. Can conigure and run the system and even boot to recovery.
- Then I tried flashing to official matricom 1.1.6 and got a script error during installation. Reboot boot box and now I'm stuck at a black screen.
- Went and flash 1.1.5 successfully again.

What should I do next? Re-download 1.1.6?

As a side note how does openelec and ember compare to the android builds? Is it faster? I am using the box exclusively as a xbmc/kodi media player and I am wondering if I will notice a difference.

I didn't have any issues going from 1.1.5 to 1.1.6 to 1.2 to Ember. Ember is my favourite FW for MX2.
