The Droid TV thread

Hi all. I'm very late on the bandwagon but just found out about the Android TV box and watched some video reviews. Once Exodus is installed it seems too good to be true? Stream pretty much all movies or TV series? Anyone have any experience with this in SA?

You understand correctly. Welcome to the light

Are there any catches or anything else I need to know? How does a service like this not get taken down?

Also is 4mb ADSL fast enough to properly use this?

4mb works great. The community is to big to take down and there is no p2p, so you're not guilty of uploading anything if it comes to that.

Can never quite get the audio sync exactly right when using Exodus.

Currently, I've set the audio offset ahead by .200s. It's pretty close. I can live with that.
Weird haven't had any issues with Exodus. Which player are you using?

^^
The ultra crappy 1st gen CloudGate Android box. :p
Did you have any issues with Genesis in the past? Should be very similar performance wise. I see that Kodi updated to 16.1 haven't had a chance to see if anything improved.

It's not providing content per se, just linking to it . There are also other addons that scrape from other sites. The key is to keep the addons up to date, or you will have issues

Has anyone managed to get better visualization add-ons running for the music player? The rotating bar equalizer is so lame, isn't there something available like Winamp's visuals?
Alternatively is there a way to use the fanart screensaver as a "slideshow" whilst listening to music?

I've got an old Samsung S2 Mini GT-I9100 Android 4.3.1 and have managed to install Showmax on it but when I try and watch anything, I get an error message: Error 2006: TYPE_PROCESS_DRM_INFO_FAILED

The phone is rooted so not sure if that could be the problem

Any ideas?

Try updating your google play services, that what my android media player told me to do and then it worked.

Try installing custom firmware on your phone with DRM rights.
Will have to try several as I don't think custom firmware lists that change.
It is tricky and you have to read carefully to not brick your phone.
I also think Showmax requires minimum Android 4.4 to run properly.
Install DRM Info app from the Google Play Store to see f your firmware has any 'Widevine' DRM.

That is what is necessary for Showmax to work.

Thanks fbman

I had a look and the version is 9.0.82 (034-121907432)

Is this version the latest?

I tried looking everywhere but couldn't find a way to update Google Play Services :(

I had a look and it says the Android 4.1 and above is supported for Showmax

Which Android devices are supported?
Android phones and tablets running Android 4.1.0 or higher
Due to manufacturer differences, the application may not work on all devices.
Application availability may vary from country to country.

I installed DRM Info, nice app. It says that Google Widevine Modular DRM Not Supported :(

Any ideas how to enable Widevine or which firmware I can install on the phone to get it to work?

My guess is that Widevine is either missing or disabled

Thanks donanicky

I think that you're correct, Google Widevine is missing or disabled :(

Do you perhaps know how to enable it or install it or which firmware I can install to get it to work?
