The Droid TV thread

Just wondering, What are your favorite add ons?

Emby (for client-server database syncing)
Exodus (for streaming)
Next-aired (to get push notifications when my tv shows are gonna air)
Probably forgetting some

Sheesh, first of the S912 stock I've seen and Marshmallow on board. Very nice, but pricy compared to the current S905 offerings.

Very nice but does it have the built in DRM for(among others) SS, DSTV Now, Showmax and Netflix? Or HDCP 2.2? If so I want.

But no "ac" wifi :( odd decision

No,
Netflix should work with a firmware update or perhaps out of the box.
R-Box abandoned lots of their previous boxes soon after release, it's best to wait for other more reliable manufacturers first.
HDCP keys has to be added from the factory before shipped, so it is of no use to customers except for companies that want to ship with support for their streaming services.
There is also no USB 3.0

Better to wait for the RK3399 that will pack a much faster CPU, GPU, USB 3.0 & Linux support.

The S912 is only good if you want to play 4K HDR content which most people won't be able to do and the faster GPU that is now included. So if you already have a S905, there won't be much difference.
The price differences are mostly because of the faster GPU.

My box is still going strong ;)

HPH NT-V6B or something like that.

Hi all, sorry if this is a repeat question but u have trawler through so many lines if chats I need some advise. I have recently gone cord cutting, running apple 3 in all the rooms but not happy with that as I have to run kodi via a laptop. What is the best do all box to get, heard the minix neo u1 is good or should I go pi3. Please some direct help would be great.

Have any of you ever able to watch LIVE TV on Kodi without experiencing buffering?... I feel it's impossible.

I have Telkom uncapped LTE and best I get is 20mbps (while others get over 50mbps) however it's not constant so sometimes I get like 10mbps or lower.

Any way to watch live TV without buffering (it's not a need but would be cool)

You have to subscribe to a paid service to not get buffering.
With most free services you will get buffering since they don't have enough bandwidth to serve all the thousands of users that stream for free.

What VPN service do you use. All the ones I've tested so far can't even handle SD on Iplayer in Kodi
I use unotelly. Lots of trouble for them with Netflix, but the BBC channels have always worked fine. Enjoying watching the Olympics live and on demand these days from BBC sport :)

Yeah live tv never seems to play for me without buffering. Any good kodi addon for cricket in high quality without buffering?

I'm not really interested in live tv for movies etc but mainly for good quality sport streams

Anybody know why i get stuttering, when Kodi is on pause for a while? I seem to play my content via external, then pause the movie when i go and have lunch or supper(dont watch tv and eat, family time at the table) ,and when i return, its just stutters.

If i reboot the Android media player, its all good again.

I would think that possibly it is how you have your buffering configured.
What does your advancedsettings.xml look like?

Are you, or anybody here, watching through a Kodi add-on or browser? The kodi add-on is giving me terrible picture break up and audio loss that's worse at night @ 3.1mb streaming despite my line holding steady above 4mb. There's almost no buffering.

Hi Alan . I find that using Exodus on Kodi most of the Movies / TV shows work fine . But using BBC I player all the live sports buffer quite badly . I'm on a 4 meg wireless internet connection . ITV also starts off fine and then 10 minutes into an episode it starts buffering

BBC and iTV play smoothly through a browser. You also get the option to choose resolution (SD or HD) if your internet speed is not enough.

I am battling to get ITV to work through a browser as it asks me to sign in and then when I do it says there is a problem with my email . I see it only works if you are in the UK . Tried viewing in Kodi , but it buffers badly
