The Droid TV thread

I am battling to get ITV to work through a browser as it asks me to sign in and then when I do it says there is a problem with my email . I dont recall "registering" with them though , and dont see a register button ?

T's & C's

2.2.2. located in the United Kingdom, Channel Islands or Isle of Man (the "Territory"); and

2.2.3. a natural person (i.e. not a company or other business entity). If you do not meet the above criteria you should not access or use the Hub. You agree that you will provide us with proof of your identity if reasonably requested by us to do so from time to time.
3. Registering to use the ITV Hub

3.1. To view the Content available via the Hub you may be required to register for an account with us. You may register to use the Hub on our Website. Upon registration you will be required to provide information including (but not limited to) your full name and email address, and you will need to choose a valid password.

BBC and iTV play smoothly through a browser. You also get the option to choose resolution (SD or HD) if your internet speed is not enough.

Frustrating that I have on occasion sat down and watched the Olympics for an hour on Iplayer through kodi @ 3100 with barely any buffering and no other problems. 90% of the time though it's a mess. It's not my line either as I'm monitoring the dl rate and it's consistent. I can revert to the browser but then I'm limited to 1700 on android.

The MXQ Pro 4k(+) was discontinued by the manufacturer because too many people complained about software issues.
Avoid any MX* by a mile as the hardware is very bad and cheap components are just used to cut costs.
The MXIII 4K uses ancient technology so most videos today won't even run on it and upcoming Kodi 17 won't work on it as it requires Android Lollipop minimum not KitKat. If you only play 720p video and nothing higher and don't use Kodi then the boxes will be okay to use.

Are you, or anybody here, watching through a Kodi add-on or browser? The kodi add-on is giving me terrible picture break up and audio loss that's worse at night @ 3.1mb streaming despite my line holding steady above 4mb. There's almost no buffering.
For BBB and the Olympics I watch that on my Roku . Waiting for my droid TV to get delivered

That can't be too new. Current generation is S905, S905x and S912 are just becoming more main stream.

Avoid - my MXII 4K worked fine for about 6 months. Then it could suddenly not longer play HD movies without stutter. OpenElec fixed that for a while (although it could now not play Netflix / google play music). 6 more months later it started crashing randomly and failing to boot. 2 more months and completely dead.

Apparently this is the norm with Chinese Android boxes.

It is the norm for any device under $50.
Low quality components with no heatsinks are used that pack up after a few weeks.
Then the manufacturer releases a new model with exactly the same problems and so get recurring sales from the same person. Then you would have bought 3-4 devices with problems while you could have bought only 1 for a little more.
If you go with $80-$180 devices you can get firmware updates even after 2 years and still running stable if buying from well known manufacturers.

Which boxes work with supersport app/dstv now? Does it have to have android 6.0?

The app works on mxq-pro 4k with s905 chip with android 5.1 . Just can't test if the streaming works ,don't have an account.

Showmax does work out of the box so it should work also.

I tried streaming on my old S4 with android 5.1, the app works but once I start a stream it doesnt connect. I saw a few posts that suggested the app doesnt work on certain boxes, was wondering what criteria I should look out for.

I'm struggling to find a decent box to purchase, reading through the hardware section in the Kodi forum, guys there seem to think WeTek devices are quite reliable. The Nvidia shield is also an option, but its so expensive.

Hmmm for what it's worth my MXIII 4K bought in July 2014 - still going strong ;)

But then I did buy from a reputable local Supplier ;)

Here you go, see previous versions lower down the page https://m.apkpure.com/showmax/com.showmax.app

Tried 2 prior versions and the same issue exist.

Try and clear data before you install the older version.
