The Droid TV thread

Was just messing around with the Shield controller and surprisingly found that it has a rumble feature that works in Windows, as well as the touchpad also being functional.
What I've seen so far, those two features aren't functional when using it on the Nvidia Shield itself.
If I'm right, then it's interesting that they're building things into the controller that Android doesn't "support".

Or rebranding someone else's innards with their own skin perhaps? +1 on weird

Test with a Vox fat pipe test account or Axxess capped account before you give up. You can get an Axxess 1gb capped account for free.
I'd say 4Gb is likely what you need but try those options first. Also, use cable LAN not WiFi.

Im on Afrihost capped 50+ 50 GB package

I had a 2Mbps line when I started off with my S905 box and had the same issue. Upgraded to 4Mbps and was sorted. I would also recommend an ethernet connection over WiFi - the wireless receivers on these units are usually not great - so maybe try the ethernet connection first and if that doesn't sort you out, a line speed upgrade might be your best bet.

Will try the Ethernet LAN cable

Your internet is too slow.
Also if you watch free pirated Kodi content there will always be buffering issues since their is not enough bandwidth for all the users that want to access the streams.
Youtube has their own servers.
You will need to subscribe to a paid service to get good streaming but upgrading to a 4 or 8mbps account will help a lot.

I have the old MX2 box and my remote is basically dead. Anyone know where I can get a replacement or a cheap alternative.

Is this any good (taking the lowish price into consideration)?

And anything else in this price class (not more than a R100 more) that is better?

Way better, will also get Marshmallow firmware next week.
Lots of the other devices get zero software support which is very important for compatibility with the latest video formats and apps.
Can play almost any video format, 10-bit x265, 10-bit x264, 4K, 1080p Youtube streaming.
HD Audio - DTS/AC3, DTSHD, TrueHD all work.
https://www.aliexpress.com/store/pr...G-with-BT4-0-support/1710008_32750590406.html

Delivery takes about 4 days or if ordered eg. on a Thursday, it should be delivered on Monday morning by DHL.
You can also leave an order message for EMS or postal service delivery(not recommended).
And it is cheaper than what you mentioned even the plus version with 5G wifi and 2GB RAM.
The heatsink is also decent and keeps the device stable.

Thanks. Some queries:

1. Do you have one? Or have you used one?
2. What's the difference between the normal and the Plus version other than $10?
3. For somebody who will use it mainly for streaming, KODI and playback of x264 is the Plus version worth the extra R140?
4. Shipping via DHL is free? Do I read that right?
5. The remote control looks like it could be an airmouse type, or is looks just deceiving?

Thx.

I have about 8 different media players, lol.
I must say this one can play the most video formats currently.
10-bit x264(there are almost no Android devices that play this, mostly anime videos are in this format)
10-bit x265 (very important for playing the latest videos)
Can also play 4K videos with 250mbps bitrate.

The Plus version has
- 5G wifi compared to 2.4G wifi in the non Plus version
- 2GB RAM vs 1GB RAM
- 16GB storage vs 8GB storage (but with the upcoming Marshmallow firmware you can even use a 32GB SDCard as internal storage)
The extra $10 is definitely worth it, but the non Plus version also works great with no problems.
Yes, DHL shipping is already included in the price believe it or not :) You can also ask for EMS if needed.
It is just a normal IR Remote, the signal is very good.
I would recommend you later get an airmouse like the TK617 for about $9.
The device also has an app that you can install to your phone to use it as a wireless airmouse and touch screen for the device, also works very well.

Thanks for taking the time to reply. Much appreciated.

Two quick questions:
1. Would this player work straight out of the box, or would I have to fiddle a bit and install updates and tweaks to get the advertised performance? I am not big on tweaking and flashing roms etc etc.
2. If anything should go wrong with the box, how difficult would it be to return to AliExpress and what is their support like?

Thanks in advance. Sorry for all these questions, but I am a cautious buyer and like to do my homework. :o

How fast does it run Android/Kodi with 2GB ram?
Does DHL charge their extra R100 odd clearance fee when it arrives in SA?

Hi

This link is for airmail shipping or E-Packet shipping to the US, so ± 1 month shipping.
The other link is $5 more for the basic model and $10 more for the Plus model but it ships with DHL or you can leave a message to ship with EMS(depending on which you want). Recommended to use this if you don't want to wait.
In the order message or before ordering you can also message the seller to get their Paypal address to pay like that, recommended. You can then register beforehand with Paypal free return shipping for added assurance.
Aliexpress wants all their stores to use Alipay so sellers have to offer Paypal in secret.
