Interesting. Last chat i had with xbmcfan was that due to the version of Android, flashing via SD card is no longer available. Think it was KitKat was the last version able to do this.
Why dont these units come with a fan? Got the G1 pro and it heats up and I can see that the thing is slowing down due to heat.
Aaah i see. So i could test the v 1.8 to see if its good and then install it again on the internal or leave as is?You can run firmware from an SD-Card, it's different then flashing from an SD-Card and overwriting the firmware on the internal storage.
You will need a really fast SD-Card and they can be pricey.
Some users with RK3288 devices that have slow internal storage use an SD-Card then videos don't stutter for them.
But the HPH devices have on average 50-70% faster internal storage then other similar devices so you don't see stutter.
But running firmware from an SD-Card can be beneficial if your device isn't booting or you want to test out some different firmware without modifying any existing software already installed.

Seems normal flashing is much easier lolYes.
But I'll have to test it first, you'll then need to convert the image to an SD-Card image then flash it to a Micro-SD Card.
It will definitely run slower unless you get a Micro-SD Class 10, 30MB/s or faster.
Chromecast audio? All I'm looking for is an Android media player with a remote and audio output.![]()
Chromecast audio?
and I'm assuming your 5.1 system doesn't have HDMI inputs then? So you're looking for a simple audio jack output, or optical out?I already have a bluetooth audio receiver that can do that.
I should have been more clear. An Android media player that has a remote control, and also an audio output. I want the sound through my 5.1 system, not HDMI sound through the television.

Yeah, audio jack, or AV
EDIT: TV has HDMI IN, no audio out. 5.1 only has RCA audio in.
Doubt you'll get a droid box with 5.1 analog out... HDMI converter box will be your best bet.
I personally would buy a new AVR![]()
Ah ok, I get you... You want to split the audio and video signals? Video to TV, audio to 5.1 receiver.
You could use a Raspberry Pi for that. Apparently the Pi 3 has an Android port available. My current setup has a Pi running Kodi (openelec). This gives me the option to output audio via the stereo jack

Yeah, basically looking for something to replace my Sony Blu-Ray player. More and more videos come out in formats it can't play, and I think because of it's age (about 4 years), there won't be any more firmware updates available.
This one does look quite promising.
Even stereo output is perfectly fine.
Hi
I bought the My Gica atv 582. Updated it, 500mb, downloaded the DSTV NOW app. It installed and I can open it and view tv channels etc. However, whenever I click on WATCH LIVE, the white loading circle will load and then kick back to the home page. It does not want to play catch up or live tv. It is loaded as a device under my devices. In chrome it will not stream as it says device not supported.
Build version V002M801_20160720. Is this the latest? Is there some trick that I am missing?
