Which is better to use for Android games? The "Tronsmart Mars G01 2.4G Wireless Gamepad" or the "PS3 Wireless Controller", the "DoubleShock one?

Cheers

the ps3 controller can only be used on a rooted device and with the sixaxis controller app (paid app on play store)

The tronsmart should work out of the box.

i have a cheapie R300 bluetooth controller and it works out the box. its not as precise tho...

Bought the 585 for my in-laws.

I was very surprised that it handled 1080p x265 without a glitch!
Looking to do this for mine, main question is, how easy is it to use for them? I'm dreading all the tech support requests.
They want one for Netflix/Showmax and Kodi

Very easy... my inlaws are over 65, and operating it no problem. My parents are in the 60s and have the 582, no problems.

Purely as a matter of interest, what were you hoping to gain by upgrading?

The latest versions of Showmax doesn't work properly on the player. The menu's are all screwed up and it's a pain to navigate. I called them and they said apparently the other people with the same issue upgraded their firmware, which fixed this. So I thought I might as well give it a try.

So... anyone with the firmware for the MX3?

I think Showmax is full of BS.
I have a MX3 that played Showmax perfectly. Then updates for the App came out and was applied. It never worked again after this. No matter what I did.
Uninstalled the app, cleared cache, installed old version again - nothing.

They also recommend a 10Mbps line if you watch via the Explora, yet on android it works just fine on a 4Mbps line.

So who knows what Tomfoolery they have embedded in that App.

Happy with my Nagrace now.

Showmax doesn't work on my 585 (think it is the 585). Says the device is rooted. I mean WTF!

My Mi Box arrived this evening and I've had some good fun setting it all up. I can't find Dstv Now or Supersport apps in its Play Store though - anyone know how to get Dstv Now or Supersport involved on an Android TV device?

Install dolphin browser. Then download dstv and connect app from apk mirror site. Try dstv now version ,1.6.4 . Look forward to feedback. Mine arrives this week

Firstly you need to install Sideload Launcher from the play store as many apps are not natively supported by Android TV and this app will provide access from the home screen to these apps. To get started with sideloading you should install ES File Explorer from the Play Store and can either copy apks you've downloaded on your pc onto a flash drive and install on the mi box or use the es file Explorer's built in browser to browse to apk mirror sites to install. I recommend installing the Chrome browser and Google Drive as Chrome firstly seems to work well and I use Google drive to copy apks from my pc to my Shield. Here's a big one: many/most sideloaded apps incl dstv now and SS require a mouse as these apps are designed for touch screens. On the Shield I can use my right controller stick but I would guess that you would need some type of air mouse or normal mouse plugged into the mi box.

These are the latest versions of the apps that should work with Android TV:

Dstv Now 1.22.1 (can only open by using the web browser and clicking on the channel links on the dstv now website)
SS 4.0.5

Awesome, thanks! I'll have to figure out a plan with a mouse though. Isn't there some way I can use my phone as a mouse?

Are there specific reasons for the APKs you mentioned? I found APKs for SuperSport 4.1.3 and Dstv Now 1.28.6 - will they work?
You can use a normal pc USB mouse until you get a airmouse

I need to keep the USB port available for the external HDD. I think I'm going to give this a try.

The reason I said try DSTV Now 1.6.4 is because it works natively without browser on my Razer Forge TV box running Android TV 6 ,just like Mi Box. On apk mirror site check for older versions. You can use pc mouse to setup everything and test . It's faster than phone remote apps

The remote apps I tried aren't working, I'll have to bring a mouse home from work tomorrow. The Supersport app (4.1.3) is at least launching, but Dstv Now 1.28.6 doesn't seem to respond. I'll uninstall and try 1.6.4

EDIT: When you say "works natively" does that mean you just launch the app and you're good to go?

Hi all,

I bought a MyGica ATV582 at Makro with the standard 801 firmware, but can't seem to get Showmax to work (rooted issue). Does anybody have a way to get around this ?

Thanks !
