Hey dude

Not really... I think you mentioned an adapter to me a while back, but can't find that post.

I have a Logitech Z680 speaker system that only has optical. My media player has optical, but that's the only thing I'll get sound from. I need something where I can go from optical(speakers) to media player(Optical) to Xbox(HDMI)

So looking to push Xbox sound via the speakers as well.

If you have multiple HDMI enabled devices, the 4x1 switch will work better -> https://avsupply.co.za/product_info...tcher-with-toslink-digital-coaxial-port-p-671

Hi jones123,

No loss. The switch also supports passthrough - audio will play through the TV speakers if the amplifier is off

No. Media player (HDMI), and XBOX (HDMI) into 4x1 Switch. 4x1 Switch HDMI out to TV, and Optical out to Sound System
 
What's nice about the switch is that you can upgrade later to a 2x output switch and send your devices to multiple outputs if necessary later. I have that with:

DSTV
Media Player
Gaming Console 1
Gaming Console 2

To:
TV1 (Lounge)
TV2 (Bedroom - 15 M HDMI cable)

I can have one device outputting to both simultaneously or a different device to either. The little IR remote control sits in the bedroom and works fine via remote blaster.

Definitely going to look into this later. It's a pricey, and budget is a bit tight, so will have to hold back a bit for now :)

can anyone with the Xiaomi Mi Box please confirm :
it has optical output ( the red light ) THAT outputs 5.1 or 7.1 NOT just 2channels
and if so is it mini toslink or normal toslink
supersport and dstv now apps work properly ?

Are there any other devices that use the android tv software like this and the shield ?

Acordign the the stats its a combined AV: SPDIF Out / 3.5mm audio output x 1 port
IIRC that's the Mini toslink
