The Droid TV thread

Yea, thats how I do it but I do find the stream online is a little bit more delayed than the stream on the app. Also my mibox struggles a little when opening the stream through the site.

It’s like a few seconds delay, far worth the quality yeah my MiBox just stays on SS page and that’s it, don’t struggle with speed or anything.

anyone else having issues with SS app in Mi box ?
i have the latest version.
It streams a while then says encountered problems and just hangs there. Have to reboot to work again .
I have reverted to the dstv now app Latest version, but the stream isn't as good 576 vs 720 me thinks.

Yea, I get the same problem with the SS App.

Does the SS App have the same restriction with the number of devices as the DSTV Now app?

DSTV Now version 1.40.12 plays better on Mibox . I’m not experiencing the dimming effect and I can play old episodes on Catch Up.
Is there a way to test the resolution?

Great news. I'm thinking a Play store version isn't far off

Sideload Google Chrome and run SS through that. That’s how I get to watch my Forumla 1 at max quality and it streams and handles beautiful on the MiBox, just a FYI

I would like to know more about sideloading Chrome. The Android releases I tried (on multiple boxes) always give me the "You need Flash" message...

I’m not so experienced on the base Android Version vs Android TV installs but what I do is install “ES File Manager”. It has the ability to connect to a cloud storage drive (Dropbox/OneDrive/Google Drive) from there I just searched Google Chrome APK, dropped it in my OneDrive and installed directly from the APK and boom was sorted...

Once that was loaded I loaded up SS webpage and just clicked to make sure Chrome loaded the full Web UI and not the mobile page for SS.

I'm wanting some advice here please ..

i know the mi box is getting a lot of great reviews around here ...
Plusses
DSTVNow works ... well enough

But I'm thinking of this H96 Pro Plus and being a bit future proofed .. does anyone have one? The specs look good.

CPU: Amlogic S912 Octa core ARM Cortex-A53 CPU (vs S905 Quad Core)
GPU: 750MHz+ ARM Mali-820MP3 GPU processor
RAM: 3GB DDR3 (vs 2GB Ram)
ROM: 32GB EMMC Flash
OS: Android 6.0 OS upgradeable to 7.1
Ethernet: 100M/1000M
WIFI: 2.4GHZ/5.8GHZ 802.11a/b/g/n /ac
Bluetooth: BT4.1

Just wondering if there is anything jumping out that I need to worry about .. wanting it for dstv now, and normal other streaming reasons .. netflix, youtube, kodi, etc ...

But is it an Android TV box or just a normal box running regular Android?
And does it support widevine which is required for many apps to run in HD such as Netflix?

That box doesn’t run Android TV it runs Android Nougat on it just FYI.

MiBox is one of the very few TV OS/ Google Certified boxes too just adding that in.
