The Droid TV thread

Hey Guys, hoping for some advise. I took the plunge and ordered via Amazon.com the Nvidia Shield TV.
For those that have ordered, I selected the first shipping option which quoted around 20 days to deliver. Does anyone know once this thing lands in SA, is it then delivered via courier to my address or would it go via normal post office? When I checked out , the price paid included shipping and import fees.

Thanks!

Right to your door bud, no extra costs at all after your payment to Amazon that’s the beauty of it. Plus side is that cheaper shipping option is usually the identical time that the expensive one takes too.

Also if the import fees are less than what you paid they will give you money back.

ps - If you see the size of my library, you will understand...

* Custom-built Raided Servers with switchover contingency.
* Media not only includes Movies, but Series and Music and Music Videos.
* All media logged into a central (Switchable) database, so searching is almost immediate.
* In excess of 18T HDD Space.

So, for the benefit of this conversation, Kodi is the ONLY way to manage, track and update...
This setup is fast becoming overkill imo
With the amount of content getting released, dl and delete, stream and move on has become the norm, at least for me.
It's worse now with Netflix coming to the party, dumping an entire season in one go. Altered Carbon for the next week and then something else comes up. It won't end and there simply isn't time.

Terrarium and PSA is all you need.

I have the Baobab MediaMate M9 and if I'm completely honest, it's pure garbage. I believe its a locally made product. The one I have had native android OS 5.1, not android TV os. It lags, didn't respond at times, and was slow. Upgraded to the Telkom lit and haven't touched the baobab media mate ever since. Hopefully that one is better than their previous rubbish.

Ok, thanks. Don't have time for **** that lags.

So what is the verdict? Mi Box or Telkom Lit box. Which one is better?

Mi box. Import is cheaper but if you want one local, it will cost R1700.

Lit box doesn't have Netflix, if you want Netflix. And there are further optimization that's needed.

Thanks, I've ordered one from Cyber Range. Waiting for stock to arrive.

Depends what you want and what you willing to spend.

I have the Lit box and there's nothing wrong with it, for my needs.

It works perfectly and plays everything that I throw (stream) at it.

This.

There is no best. Only best for your need
Understand what u want to do 1st. Then you'll know what's better for u

There actually is a best and a better and in this case the MiBox would be it between the two.

For me, the Lit is better than the Mi box because of the built in Ethernet. I don't want an additional dongle for that.

I use Terrarium, Kodi and Plex, which all work flawlessly.
