The Droid TV thread

I see the MeCool M8S Pro W and L(7.1.2) now run the Android TV OS similarly to the Mi and Lit box.

Picked this up from an ad on Gumtree Cape Town where a guy sells boxes on a regular basis - I always keep an eye on it just out of interest . The MeCool M8S Pro W goes for R849 - so this is probably the cheapest " local " Android TV box - I didn't pick up the casting function from the box on a quick search which is weird since it is native to Android TV OS - maybe just missed it/misread.

Does any one have experience with the below device? To my knowledge this is illegal as it comes preloaded with various apps that gives you access to all the latest shows, movies and live sport. I thought devices that comes preloaded cannot be sold but they have various reps and after sales and state that they have been approved by icasa.

I really don’t know why people bother with these devices. Get a proper Box for cheaper than that and if you really want to travel down that road there are plenty of threads and sources on the net to get streams and such for your box.

The device can be approved by ICASA and that holds not “validity” as it simply states that the network and hardware has been SA approved not the actual contents on the device.

Best as stated above being the Shield but also keep in mind it’s double the price so all depends what you will be throwing at the device and your home setup.

Second to that being the MiBox at half the price. Defiantly no mistake buying a MiBox can guarantee you that.

Agree, once got a generic Droid box from gearbest sometime back before they were as popular as they are now, the thing lasted less than 2 days. Moved to Amazon devices, rocking for a couple of years now. I'd think MiBox is also just as solid too

This must be the worst product you can buy! You will be wasting your money on an inferior product...

Just get a MI BOX and you can do all the streaming you want!

ps - This "switch" also has the worst implementation of OS and a piss-poor remote...
