You and your mates, head to the preferred watering hole for sports, yep, good food, served drinks, good camaraderie, all in all, a wonderful experience. Sitting at home does not compete.

even you gave it a +1
I thought it was funny though. This article made my day.

I imagine this hilarious scenario where some marketing fart made this suggestion and then a brown nose cucks all nodded with glee at what a good idea it was.

Then some poor chop had to press buttons on a keyboard to make this happen. After several edits someone looked at this and said - yes, this is amazing lets put this online for people to read.

The headline should read ADVERTISING
MBB should beware of losing credibility.

Like Eksdom! Telkom & SAA, spin will not save them . . . .

What a pile of horse bullocks!!!!!! There is a HUGE saving dumping dstv. There are other options at SMALL amounts in comparison OR free.
Also dont use the kak story of you need internet, typically people have it already and mostly uncapped these days. I cancelled 5 years ago and haven't looked back ever!!

Spinning expensive DSTV as a means of saving money is a new one.
If a household really is in a financial pinch then self control is required and sacrifices must be made. If someone is apparently unable to forgo premium, live sports coverage in order to prioritize other commitments then I'm not really sure they can be helped and their kids will just have to go to school barefoot and hungry.
What nonsense.
The point is there are more expensive options and less expensive options. If you pick a less expensive option you are saving money. From my own perspective it is saving on the cost of local cinema. I still support local industry while not paying for things like cooldrink and popcorn that only makes the big international distribution houses richer. We all know that when it comes down to it the Netflix addicts can forgo that and that nice internet connection but for some reason though they view that as a necessity and the buck always has to arbitrarily stop at Dstv. How odd.

Sound logic under normal circumstances where one may simply be considering the value proposition of one vs the other, however in the case provided it was explicitly stated that the client was in "financial distress". I merely pointed out that if a household is indeed in financial trouble that surely DSTV is a logical choice when it comes to culling costs if one is to prioritize. If a household is on a tight budget I'd just as easily suggest that a fast uncapped internet connection would be an area to consider in reducing expenses.
To present DSTV premium as somehow an essential part of a stretched budget makes little sense to me and I think this may be what many readers take issue with as it just seems like a blatant attempt to counter the argument that some have made in terms of getting a sports fix elsewhere.

To sports fans, DStv is not seen as a luxury which can be cancelled during hard times, but rather as a necessity to watch their favourite team play live.
Sports Junkies. Heroin addicts feel the same way. ;)

Anyone else notice the Freudian slip in the article?

"This makes DStv, and DStv Premium specifically, a necessary monthly expensive for sport-loving South Africans."

Just giving this a bit more thought, its actually disgusting that David Kop would agree to have his name attached to such a shameful piece of bullshyte advertising for DSTV.

It makes me question the FPI in general in terms of their independence.

**Edit** David kop didn't consent to this article and the gist of his advice has been misrepresented by the article. I retract my disgusting portion or questioning the fpi and their independence

Let's say he/she goes to the Spur:
Cheese & Bacon Burger R93
Castle Lager R25 x3
=R178 (includes R10 cheapskate tip)

He can go 5 times a month solo. ONLY for sport.

DStv is value for money! LOL
Or twice if he's on the compact, you're assuming he's a premium subscriber. 81% of DSTV subscribers are not premium subscribers.
