DA has lost ground in the national election - they fell from 28 to 27%. :(

It's always like this. Strong DA in the beginning, then it drops somewhat as the outlying areas trickle in. We're a long way from finished, but I suspect we'll (unfortunately) be seeing the DA drop a little more still.

and that was just the outlying 9% (or something) counted. don't give up hope just yet.

anyways, i don't understand how people after everything that has happened in the last 5 years, still want to vote ANC? are they that easily brainwashed? or are they scared?

As far as I know, and im no sociologist but scared is correct and in some cultures, the king has many wives and a big house. The bigger the better and well everything aside its pride and manly or some sh7t

I share your same sentiments. I honestly don't see how people can still vote for the ANC after all the crap that has happened since the last elections.

Even more so in GP. I thought the EFF / AGANG / DA campaigned very hard for GP. How does the ANC do very little campaigning and still take the province? (Yes, I am aware that we've only seen 9% of the results for GP thus far, however I think ANC will still take it)

I think a lot of it is still trading on past actions. I highly doubt the older voter will ever be swayed from the ANC, well at least the majority of them won't, and it is all because of what the ANC done 20, 30, 40 years ago. Then you get some younger voters that follow the same logic. What has happened between 1994 - 2014 is overshadowed by the 80-odd years before that.

Simply put, I think many voters feel indebted to the ANC.

You mean to say RSA will be better off once the old people have died out.

Apartheid fear is etched into the minds of the masses. Voting DA is voting for the NP.
Tribal loyalty
Indoctrination by the ANC

Seems that way. Also it seems Zuma may have said something with a little truth. "ANC will rule until Jesus comes" :(

So ironic considering the NP was absorbed into the cancer

I must say I am quite dissapointed so far the public are basically giving zuma the right to continue plundering the country.

i actually know someone that voted for the VF+. because they are old, white, and won't vote for helen because "when i see her she's always hanging around some black person's neck"

i just shook my head and walked away. i guess you still get the reverse as well in the anc voters. pity some people still have these mindsets, and yes, we'll probably be stuck with them until they die off

In all honesty. Elections should be a little more serious as the American elections and be limited to a 2 or 3 horse race

I completely agree. Having so many parties is so pointless. All those wasted votes. :(
