Landau - Thepicompromise.

Very interesting chilled electronic album.

Formed in 1998, Landau was originally a union of four songwriter/ producers geared towards writing melodic electronic music. Their earliest influences included the 1990's Warp Scene, trip hop, drum & bass and western art music. The groups underlying goal and aesthetic has always been the seamless blend of acoustic and electronic sound. Landau's sound has often been compared to Plaid, Autechre, The Cinematic Orchestra, and Matmos amongst others.
After releasing a series of offerings on Labels in England, Canada and the US the band released its first international debut on Merck Records, entitled The Epic Compromise. Since its release in 2004, the record has gained much international attention and praise.
Since it's founding the band has undergone constant transformation under the influence of jazz, funk, dub and soul. The band has blossomed into several different projects that pay proper homage to these influences.
The Landau Orchestra is a project that focuses towards a perfect blend of acoustic instruments (4 brass, 4 string, 2 wind) , piano and electronics. This project has a release being organized for next year.
Landau now performs as an electro-acoustic quartet with an instrumentation that includes Acoustic Bass, Guitar, Rhodes, Accordion, Melodica, Drums, percussion, laptops, turntables and synths. In the summer of 2006, Landau will be on a North American tour that starts at the Bushwick Arts Festival in New York and ends in Landau's birthplace- Tulsa, Oklahoma. For the Northeast leg of the tour Landau will have the additional instrumentation of Flugelhorn,Flute, Tenor Sax and Trombone.

Found this: Funkstörung - Viceversa.

Funkstörung rapidly approaches Kruder & Dorfmeister when it comes to groups who are more notorious for their remix work than original production. But while K&D smooth their source material into a dubby liquid mix custom-designed for chi-chi restaurants and boutiques, Michael Fakesch and Chris De Luca take their "remiks" in the opposite direction, fragmenting beats and sharpening edges. That is not to say that Funkstörung makes music that is grating or difficult. Actually, they have a special skill for making aggressive, off-kilter beats sound positively inviting, and Viceversa is actually their most palatable work. This is partially due to the heavy vocal content of the record. The remix of A Guy Called Gerald's "Humanity," featuring Louis Rhodes of Lamb, as well as the original recording by Funkstörung and Jay-Jay Johanson, leaves both singer's voices wholly intact. Of course, always a group to mess with expectations, Funkstörung mutilates the vocals on the album's closer, "C'est la Vie" by classic '70s electronic composer Jean Michel Jarre, turning it into the most aggravating track on the record. Funkstörung has not only mastered the art of the broken beat, but has also turned around and applied their knowledge to an array of other electronic subgenres. By recording tracks with Bean from Anti-Pop Consortium and remixing classic rave anthems by Speedy J, this duo has taken the IDM movement and positioned it alongside more traditional lounge, dub, and deep house to receive an equal amount of rotation on the CD changers of those looking for something audacious and of-the-moment.

Good stuff. :)

Yip, I wasn't sure if I was listening to it because of my bleak mood, or if my bleak mood was from listening to it...

@Zeridine: official release is sometime at the end of April, though it's been floating around for a month now...
