Cool man, if you prefer a jet that also set itself alight (http://www.defensenews.com/articles/f-35a-damaged-in-fire-at-air-force-base), might need a hard reboot mid-air because of buggy software (http://arstechnica.com/information-technology/2016/03/f-35-radar-system-has-bug-that-requires-hard-reboot-in-flight/) and is likely to kill you if you use the ejection seat (https://www.extremetech.com/extreme/222380-the-pentagons-official-f-35-bug-list-is-terrifying) that's your choice.

The F-18 is an escort fighter, the F-35 is an early stage bomber, their rolls can not be easily swapped. The F35 is meant to go in there and take out SAM sites, then the F18s can escort the bombers through XD

Yeah, totally, you pick the systems not even the Indians would take. You show us how its done XD

Russians are so far behind. One day, when they are big, they will develop stealth XD

You can fanboy their tech as much as you want, I want foolish people to fly those Russian jets in combat against American hardware. The results will be deserving.

They should have made a more ground attack capable F22 (carrier capable too), and given the Marines a super harrier...
 
What a lot of people dont' seem to get is that the F-35 is very much more - and more complex - than "traditional" 4-5G aircraft. It's a whole system that goes well beyond the airframe and onboard weaponry in the way fighters have traditionally been conceived and missioned. It's designed to also deal with very different threats to the ones we've historically seen, including high-performance combat UAVs expected to emerge in the 20s, which is why its highly-integrated theatre-wide systems are so critical - and so hard to do.

For newbies to this discussion: You can easily find ten thousand "it's a dog" articles. To balance that, take a look at the four "Busting Myths" clips on Youtube.

You are spot on. Its not a single solution, its part of a much bigger platform. Thats why when I see those lame russian propaganda videos on youtube with a sukoi vs a f35 in a dog fight I laugh. The f-35 does not get into a dog fight.... it shoots from over the horizon.

And this aint xbox vs playstation, its more like ps4 vs a Gameboy. Except the guy with the gameboy is so deluded, he thinks it can out perform the ps4.

Laughable, where have you offered any? You point out a flaw experienced in testing, which happens to all development planes (as demonstrated by the much longer F-35 problem list).

You point out a disagreement over design choices between India and Russia as if it means anything, it is a Russian plane, of course they are going to insist on the final word in designing their own plane.

Lastly you offered a "duh", so I ask, how would you have any clue whether or not reason works with me when you haven't offered any?
