The fine wine thread

Normally such a safe bet for a good enjoyable red. Hope you didn't buy a case!
Yeah, never had a 'bad' vintage Kanonkop until this, and it was a magnum as well. The top of the cork had some fungus, but the bottom was perfect.

We still have a 2018 Paul Sauer magnum in the house, hopefully that one is good.

We bought these at a special event at Kanonkop about 3 years ago, they've been lying in a cold cupboard since then, so I don't think storage was the cause.

Great Checkers special on a superb Chenin. Don't be fooled by the Van Loveren label. Normally the realm of the mass bog standard cheapo.and their normal Chenin totally fits this bill. But this is different. This is a superb complex full bodied fruity zingy chenin w some punchy finish. I have been loving it and often comes in high on Chenin Awards for sub R150 a bottle at R66 this is a total bargain. At this price a steal. For round the pool and braais and fun in the sun. You won't be disappointed.Screenshot_2023-12-09-14-04-59-440_za.co.shoprite.sixty60.jpg

That's a great estate, have tried some of their reds. Congratulations, may there be many more. Anniversaries that is (and bottles of red wine shared with your spouse).
Thanks much appreciated! This has been tucked away for a few years now for the special occasion so looking forward. May also get some more in the future!

Wine was absolutely delicious enjoyed it over the evening with my wife at a wonderful French restaurant where they took good care in decanting it properly.

This was a very good Cab Franc. A touch lighter than we are used to in ZA, but just as good.

While we sleep, we dream every 90 minutes in the REM phase. It takes 90 minutes to go from Barcelona to the Priorat and visit us. Just over 90 minutes is what a good movie should last. No bottle of this wine has ever lasted more than 90 minutes. Health.
