A wine thread ... celebrates
Most people know Durbanville Hills, but Durbanville also has some of the other best wine farms in the country.
I have at least one bottle from each of the top farms in my collection at the moment.
I love
Diemersdal's wines. I was lucky enough to get a bottle of their Diemersdal Pinotage Reserve last year while they still had stock.
Altydgedacht's Pinotage is another favourite. Got a bottle of the 2010 and 2011. Their
Sauvignon Blanc is in my Top 5.
D'Arias Soprano Shiraz is one of the best Shiraz I've tasted
Durbanville Hills Bastion is one of my favourite blends.
Almost all of
Kleinroosboom's wines are excellent. Their Bandana Blanc is great Sauvignon Blanc for the price.
Another good Shiraz is from
Meerendal.
Most of Nitida's Wines are excellent, particularly their
Cabernet Sauvignon 2009
Some of the most "affordable" wines in the area are from
Phizantekraal They have quite a few Cabernet's and Shiraz's from 2007 - 2009 and its interesting to taste how they differ.
My most favourite gem though is the boutique winery of
Kronendal. They only really do one wine the Mirari, but it is out of this world!
As for the other wine regions, Beyerskloof's Pinotage's are legendary. The Pinotage Reserve and Field Blend being my favourites. Haven't had the privilege of tasting the Diesel yet though
Best Sauvignon Blanc is
Springfield Life From Stone without a doubt.
