The Ford Ranger (T6) Thread

Not very well for the last model and even worse I am going to assume for the new one.
I am considering one but I'm not willing to pay a premium for a Ford.

Well, pick-ups in the double-cab 4x4 range are classed as premium nowadays. Across manufacturers, you'll see that the prices are in the premium range.

@FiestaST So Nissan Navara is the oldest - had no updates or new model releases - but has the highest RRP ?

Other than that, the Ranger prices well against its competitors.

If you forgive the Hilux; new model not too far off locally; then yes Navara is oldest.

Reason for it being the most expensive is that top model has a 3L V6 Diesel motor; 170kw & 550nm

That's serous muscle bro; closest is the 3.2 5-cylinder Ranger with 147kw & 470nm.

No news on Mitsubishi on the Triton; it's making waves in the UK & they are not even Bakkie people.

Here is a thread I made about the new Navara

http://mybroadband.co.za/vb/showpost.php?p=16091362

And yes for the entire life cycle the Navara stayed pretty much the same....I think a person would be kinda foolish to buy a new one. Just buy a neat 2/3 yr model for substantially less.

So aside from the 2 base models there are no petrol engine options ? Pity

I see big discounts on the "old model"...look at that "cash back"

Ford have had great specials all year. The base petrol went for R165 000, and the 2.2 double cab was R299 000. Looks like they need to dump some of fancier ones now.

Petrol bakkies are a dying breed. I believe the GM is dropping the petrol engine from the Isuzu KB too.

Yeah, guess I'm becoming an old fuddyduddy :D I just want a dead simple naturally aspirated petrol engine.

saw one of the "Facelifted" Rangers today on my way to Melkbos. From the exterior not many differences if you looking from behind, the front looks nice though. But it looks like a facelift, nothing more, nothing less

This is just a facelift. Sam engines, chaises and same bodies.

The 2.2l diesel is 118kW (up from 110kW). The 3.2l diesel remains at 147kW. There has been a fairly extensive rewrite of the software.
