Incredibly lame that a DLC can get a GOTY nomination...my heart wants Astro Bot to win, but let's be real, Elden Ring again has a very high chance, what a disappointment.

Also kind of surprised at Black Myth being there, did not expect it to make the list.

Balatro is good fun, made by like one guy as well so kind of crazy that it made it to GOTY...

Metaphor has great potential, and it is made by the same people that made Persona. It is a genre which is up my alley. I believe it deserves its nomination, but only time will reveal how well it connects with Western audiences.

I went to have a look on social media what the public sentiment is like, and people really don't like that a DLC is in the run. They want DLC to have a place at The Game Awards, then create its own category.

I’m kinda hooked on Balatro. Steep learning curve but pretty addictive as it unfolds.

There’s a chunky demo on Steam if you want to check it out.

Like you I only have experience in a handful of JRPGs, most of it in Final Fantasy Remake series, which I really love. I tried the demo of Metaphor for around 2hrs and I could tell it's an incredibly well made game, so will definitely pick it up on sale at some point.
