Impossible to say at the moment, they haven't taken anyone to court yet and I haven't even heard of a single summons being issued yet. Will have to wait for the first few cases to go the yards before we will know.
I doubt if summons will be issued before elections.

Just received a phone call from the VPC. They informed me that I have an outstanding amount of R7000 and something rand, and asked when I was going to pay this? At first I was taken aback and said "I am still deciding". She then insisted on me giving a time to which I just replied "I am not planning on paying". She then just said thanks and put the phone down.

What are the purposes of these calls? I regret my answers now. I suspect I should have said "I do not know what you are talking about" or something in that line.

Maybe they're preparing to start prosecuting. Can't wait. Bring it on.

Yesterday, Sanral spokes-man Vusi Mona said the agency was owed R543 million as at February 28.

“That is the figure we were sitting with in the violations processing centre.

“It is, therefore, three times the normal tariff as it includes the cost of collection.

“The current figure is currently being audited by the Auditor-General and we are, therefore, not in a position to disclose it as yet.”

and now they want to offer discounts for paying outstanding amounts and registering

will I pay? will hell freeze over?

DON'T GET SEDUCED BY SANRAL: OUTA

The Opposition to Urban Tolling Alliance (Outa) on Wednesday warned Gauteng e-toll road users to think before being "seduced" by the SA National Roads Agency Limited's (Sanral) offer to register for e-tags.

"Sanral is desperate to get the over 1.3 million non-compliant freeways users to play on their turf by signing their terms and conditions," spokesman John Clarke said in a statement.

Sanral announced on Wednesday that the grace period for e-toll road users to settle their accounts and benefit from the discount had been extended.

Users would be discounted for the period of December 3, 2013 to February 28, without the alternate user tariff being applied. The alternate rate is three times the standard toll tariff and is for unregistered users.

Outa described the move as a strategy to persuade road users to register so the agency could solve its financial problems.

"Outa predicted that Sanral would re-commence its hook, crook, and spook tactics as soon as the elections were over," the alliance's chairman Wayne Duvenage said.

He said the alliance believed the discount offer would be followed by a summons case to scare the public into compliance.

Outa unsuccessfully launched a court challenge to stop e-tolls in Gauteng.

I have not had any calls from SCAMRAL unless they're calling from a caller id withheld number, in which case my phone is set to reject such calls without ringing.

If/when I get a call from SCAMRAL agents, I will tell them I will consider paying after king Zumatello has repaid all of the money that the public protector's Nkandla report states that Zuma stole from all of us tax payers, and after Zuma and cabinet members have paid for all of the etrolling fees charged to all the vehicles in their blue light bullies brigades out of their own pockets.

The fun is about to start then :D Will they stop everybody at the same time or nit pick and make an example? I'd love to be that example.

Funny stuff, they can barely stop actual offenders now you want them to stop etoll offenders :-).

You can then argue that they are unfairly discriminating against you due to the fact that are selectively prosecuting.
