The Gauteng E-tolling Thread

If that is true, then we have incontrovertible evidence that Nazir Ali was lying when he gave us the breakdown relating to 83% of road users paying R100 per month, 10.1% under R200 etc. Using their breakdown, that would have required, using weighted averages of payments, around 1,9 billion cars to have passed through all of the gantries in those 9 hours. That's 545 times more vehicles than are even registered in Gauteng.

If that pic is true, then the average e-toll charge is EDIT: R1120 per month...

We moved stock on Tuesday. My boss has an etag. We did one round trip. His etag registered r160. One day. One trip from centurion to jhb center, woodmead ending in centurion.

Why is it that your first R50 payment ( no tag ) can only be done with a credit card?

Why can't I pay without registering. That can not be within the CPA?
At one point they claimed that kon registered users have a grace period and if you pay with in a certain time you fall within the reduced prices? But then they force you to register to pay.

This is such a load of BS.

Mr Mila can't have a criminal record. An he can't avoid the gates.
He is still holding out though.

If samsung could pay apple with coins in a court settlement he should be able to pay with coins as well.

Can;t vouch for source so you never know. But its shocking..

The guy making the comment reads the number wrong. It reads 14 million not 1.4 million. And I don't think they'd run 14 million bucks in 9 hours. Seriously. That's R432 per second. Or around 100 transactions per second at average gantry rates. With probably zero traffic for the first 5 hours. I call bs

So much for the 83 percent of us paying R100 a month.

My earlier calculations came to a figure of R590 per vehicle per month. This excludes maintenance costs and other costs Sanral have not disclosed. They've only disclosed a single cost to ETC - nothing else, and they will have business costs to include.

If we include maintenance and input costs then I calculate a cost of between R900 and R1300 per month depending on a few variables in cost. The figure in that picture shows an average of R1120 per vehicle based on a million vehicles. This is not far off...

The picture reeks of being fake.... The clock shows 7:38AM - but the camera shot shows dark - Also the picure is of an extended shutter time (Streaks from car lights). Also 9h38 does not tie up to anything.

Glad the topic has now drifted to "how can I avoid paying"...so in keeping with society.

Anyway, it is the old 80:20 approximation. I do a trip to airport here and pay over $30 (R300), my monthly bill up to $400 (no cap) but about 80% of people pay less than $20/month.
We have a monthly running series that generated about $60K from about 1,000 different entrants and about 300/month...average is $60 each but 50% only spend $10 and about 80% <$20

...just saying...

Waiting for the ANC/SANRAL to try capitalize this. The last hope of the ANC. RIP
