That's where it does not make sense, you pay as soon as the R21 starts, but also where the e-tolls ends just after Lynnwood if going north, Sanral is very sneaky that way.

not making sense to us, is like making very good sense to Sanral - they must have modelled the gantries and decided, "let's naaaai those guys once more......"

I wish to have my day in court too.

You should know Nazir Alli is a sadist. I am willing to bet good money he is big in the BDSM scene.
He probably reads Fifty Shades of Grey each time he chairs a SANRAL meeting.

So here's something fun.

I dropped the below mail to [email protected], just to see what they would reply with. Turned on delivery and read receipts ( because, why not? )

What I got back from them is a "Message deleted without being read" response. Apparently this mailbox just wipes out mails after they're a few days old.

Before anyone says anything, I know that the system is not meant to allow me access to view my etolls if I'm not registered ( Despite what the URL might suggest ) - But any member of the public who'd read that article might think differently.
Can you report this to the public protector?

I wish to have my day in court too.

good for you!

I just decided, whether we win or not, I have to set a target for how far I'll go - the ironic thing is, that if enough of us want our day in court, the system will fail, but I have my doubts if there will be enough with balls to take it all the way

Thanks.. and they must maar blacklist me too... I really don't care anymore. The City of Johannesburg blacklisted me too because they tried to get clever with me and I showed them what happens when people get clever with me.

There are certain legal requirements for a valid tax invoice. I'm pretty sure an SMS doesn't meet them.
I'm just wondering about the technicalities regarding the type of charge these tolls are and how that affects the legal requirements of the invoicing. Too bad SANRAL doesn't believe in clarity... :(

Well, they charge VAT. Businesses should be able to claim that VAT back, but they can't do so without a valid tax invoice.

Oh forgot to mention, the same caller to 702 (that is registered, got the tag and prepaid) only got the discount for the first seven days thereafter he got charged the alternate rate.

So the SANRAL system seems pretty buggy to me ...

Maybe his tag is not doing whatever its supposed to do when driving under a gantry, indicating his e-tag is not picked up by the gantry and will then be charged more with no cap.

I'm still wondering if they can actually blacklist you for e-tolling debt - I somehow doubt it.... but also don't care, as I have no debt and don't need it

Only if they obtain a judgement against you.

Someone posted here that SANRAL are excluded from the Credit act or something and can not blacklist you. Not yet that is

MR mila goes through every one from Rigel to booysens. His account will be R1700 a month ( supposedly )
that guy had to do it several times a day for 10 days

Foooookit.

Photoshopped? ... the Grammer is criminal..

Sanral is criminal (as is your spelling ;) ) Wouldn't expect their grammar to be correct. Remember this tender went to the highest kickback...
