The Gauteng E-tolling Thread

Hmmm, this might turn into an interesting development. Do you have a reference for this?

. We record e-toll transactions and phone calls electronically
We record all e-toll transactions electronically. This might include taking photographic
images of motor vehicles using e-roads. We also record certain phone calls to the e-toll
call centre. We may use these records for queries, complaints, disputes, enforcing
these terms and conditions, collecting e-toll, or if the law requires us to.
We keep photographic images for at least 60 calendar days.

So I imagine for violations they'd keep them longer.

Oh, OK, so they might keep it longer, thanks.

I think the problem here is that the distinction made between SANRAL and the VPC isn't clear. One scenario could be that SANRAL hands over all evidence to the VPC and then deletes their own records.

Sanral is VPC. VPC is Sanral. No legal distinction.

Is there a MyBB thread somewhere (where I cannot find it) for this news article?

SA National Roads Agency Limited spokesman Vusi Mona said the building where the man was arrested was occupied by Electronic Toll Collection (ETC).

“And the individual arrested works for a service provider on the Gauteng Freeway Improvement Project (GFIP) and is not a Sanral employee, as has been mistakenly reported,” he said in a statement.

Who is responsible for controlling access to the property (not just the building) where this guy was arrested, who allowed him to be there, or did SCAMRAL previously allow anyone on to the property?

I strongly condemn SCAMRAL and the minister of transport for not apologising to Joe/Jill Public for the unfounded accusations made against us that we are responsible for terrorising SCAMRAL employees.

They don't need support!

Now we're going to see some action - sad that this is what it takes to get government to start seeing reason.

Only language that seems to work

Problem is they're protesting because operating licences have taken long to get issued. They need them to get exempted from e-Tolls... So our goals are no the same. >_<

but at least it's more stress on Sanral (who have been ready to implement e-tolling for 2 years......)

But maybe we can hijack their protest...

Not on this issue: taxi drivers have no respect for any laws and the permits they want as a prerequisite for exemption, are for vehicles that are not roadworthy and should not be on the road, neither should the taxi drivers be on the road since their drivers licences are not legally obtained either.

I expect the striking taxis and their drivers will congeal on the etrolling roads.

Good thing I have to be in Benoni on Monday.
