The great bread scandal

I reckon the 99 Million should be discounted on all bread for the next while, seen as we are the ones who paid for it in the first place.

Good idea, but government think they know best. I wonder how much profit they made from this scheme? If its more than the fine where's the incentive to not do it again?

Gauvamint should have to pay back the extra VAT they collect as well

IIRC VAT is not levied on bread.

Instead of going after the companies about the appalling price fixing that has been going on, you guys are questioning where the fine is going?

My biggest concern is still how big the fine is relative to their profits from the scam, it should be massively punitive to ensure it doesn't happen again. And then as a secondary factor we should question where the fine's going.

There are still more fines coming for those that did not coorporate with the CC, Tiger Brands played along, that is why their fine if half of the maximum.

Yeah I saw that. Didn't realise there was a maximum.

And Premier Milling broke the story to the CC so do not pay any fine:mad:

Nope, some distributers from the Cape filled the complaint, and then Premier Milling spilt the beans on the whole thing.:D

I still think it is wrong that they get away without paying any penalty
