a will definitely be cheaper, by a country fscking mile.. but it doesn't need to look average or shyte. I've just had my version of a put up.

Charcoal frame, clear panels (for some) and coloured panels for the rest.

So you can get the carport style awning done, and still have it look fairly "different" and decent.

yours looks good and is still fairly open, i will take a pic of my spot, it is kinda slightly sunken and in a corner.

With the right supplier you could probably find a middle ground between the 2 options, where the cost tends more towards option a....

what size do you want?

I think about 12cmx12cm - I already have one up on the wall that's the right size, just need to get up there and confirm the size. The ones from PCLink were 10cm x 10cm - so quite a bit smaller than advertised.

Morning. So the builder phoned last Friday and tells me they are finished. @Smokey mcpot and all other, what's your opinion ?

A.jpeg
Bar top and tops next to braai suppose to be screeded and painted with some sealer.
B.jpeg
E.jpg
That finish is so rough i can't wipe it with a rag.
F.jpg
G.jpg
Blobs of sealer that's dryed.
C.jpg
Bricks full of dryed cement.
D.jpg
Open gap and schity cement work.

Anyone know where to get camera junction boxes? I ordered 5 online - but they're too small for two of the cameras (although, their advertised size is correct for the camera - the actual boxes are smaller). I've tried Builbers and Buco

Looking for something like this, just the correct size: https://pclinkshop.co.za/computing/...xKiFNRs2rk_O66faTFhGc7xnnKQ8MChhoCX9MQAvD_BwE

Ok look here

I can try and order for you.

These are all 93mm x 93mm

you guys are disturbing me at work lol. I’ll have the forum member bill you guys for stealing his time.

So for the braai tips, I’d get some wood around the edges and box it. Then some self leveling screed inside to ensure you’ve got a level and smooth finish. Once dried just finish of the sides with a screed mix to get the smooth finish. For obvious reasons the self leveling screed won’t work for the sides.

for the dried cement use a solution of water and mortar off. Scrub with a wire brush and it should get most of it off.
For the cement between bricks, piece of wood with a nail sticking out according to the depth you’d want to clear the cement. Scrape he cement after wetting with some mortar off. Equal depths around all the bricks and a neat finish.

So many ideas for our new braai/entertainment room.

I like this look of the dark grey, stainless and light wood.

I don't want to just paint the worktops on the side though since that won't be great to work on for spills/heat/etc.

I'm thinking of having all the braai brickwork (countertops, walls, etc) finished with cemcrete hardened colour concrete - like this - just in a different colour.:

Good/bad idea you think?

Very nice. My countertops and bar top is suppose to look like this. Even the floor. Told the builder this morning i can't mop the floor - texture too rough.

The only issue I have with the chemcrete is that it’s not as strong as they claim. We’ve seen a number of chips and even took their “instructions “ after complaining. Eventually they sent a guy to do it... and it chipped again. I do however have a new trick where I do an extra clear seal over it to try and protect.

Yeah, just came from the showroom now where they showed some tops... their reception desk and so on is also done with chemcrete. Seemed to have a lot of scuff marks. I'm definitely reconsidering, like the look of this too.

Just wondering how that caesarstone is done though... have to pay for the whole length only to end up wasting the bit in the middle. Not sure at what point that would get cut out though, since just having that thin strip in front would make it a nightmare to transport.

Finally started today to remove the old thatch roof. Plan is to replace with a metal Roof, after raising the height of the walls.

Will be recycling the thatch and the gumpoles, so if anyone is keen on a thatch lapa soon give me a shout.

Things I didn't realise, the layer you see if effectively "just the tip", so what lies beneath is actually pretty fresh and clean, so a slight snip on one end and it's almost indistinguishable from the new bundles I got.

It makes about 10x the mess you think it does to take off, would recommend furniture in storage/ on first floor/ and a hotel. Current estimate is that it will take a month, but that's partially because of the cleaned by for sets being cut for reuse.

Anyone know of a skip company in JHB that's well priced, or one that can charge per skip pick up rather than a monthly amount?

what area are you in?

also what kind of structure are you going with? a carport style roof?

i have used those mini skips before, quite convenient, they normally collect when you call them, pay per skip load

Sun sets on day 1, and then to not bother with extensive clean up if it's taking time away from progress.
