Where in Cape Town can I look for an internal sliding door but one that splits in the middle and goes to each side? Been searching online but can only find the barn doors that slide to one side.

Like this:

If you do not want to build it yourself. There is a company called beetroot that can probably make it. They do all sorts.

more progress than on my job in the last 2
I spoke too soon, the architect somehow messed up measurements making the foundations out by 230mm.

I'm not willing to compromise on where it should have been, luckily the builder is his friend... so they must figure it out. Seems they have figured something out, but they're losing a day, but there's lots of other work to do so it shouldn't be a trainsmash.

Shows you how you need to check every single day.

just wait, next thing you will be told you criticise everything they do :p

Hi guys, I have a small paving job to do in the Kyalami / Midrand area, 35 squares. Can anyone recommend a decent and reliable paver (if such a thing exists) who can deliver without it costing my birthright?

Thanks. May I ask what type of repairs are required and from what was the cause?
A lot of guys don’t do the torch on properly resulting in leaks. The leaks (specifically on the seams/joins) wet the board and the roof starts sagging. All the water puddles up in this dip and starts causing havoc. 80% of the repairs I do is something like that. If it’s not that it’s always the torch on which is coming loose.

the guys don’t get it to the correct temps and then mess it up. Again I say get a roofing company to do this and not just a general contractor. Some builders can do it, but the odds of getting it done properly are much higher when using a reputable roofing company.

also be prepared to pay them to do it right, spend a bit extra for peace of mind

bra don't make me cry, im honestly at the point of asking this oke to leave and paying someone else to redo the current item
Don't be ungrateful man... at out old place after we had contractors redo the bathroom we had to redo the kitchen, since they turned it into their personal workshop.

We were supposed to live with my in laws for 2 months during the bathroom renovation... we moved back 20 months later after we'd saved enough to fix the kitchen.

yeah man I know it can be worse but i am just so tired of it, at this place we have done 5 major projects

1 main bathroom
1 guest bathroom
entire house tiling
small addition
house repaint + all new facias and barge boards
new entertainment roof

of these literally 1 of the jobs went well, the others all have some serious issues that i am quite meh about in general, the kicker is the 4 that havent gone well have all costed more than they should, taken longer than they should and all need attention in the future.

The cost of the stress on me i cant even begin to describe

edit: actually 6 including the solar, that went pretty well actually for the most part, got screwed by the initial contractor also though

Yes thanks. Will only be going through accredited roofing companies. Also looking at guarantees on workmanship and installation of 10years or more. No run of the mill people to do the job.

Any recommendations that I could look at for the Cape Town area.

We used MultiDex for our torch on after an initial cowboy completely f&#ked up the job.
It's still going strong after nearly 16 years; it does require annual checking and maintenance if you want their full guarantee, but I do this myself and give the entire roof a coat of plascon silver every 2 years or so; minimal movement of the bitumen so no cracking or leaks thus far. Not sure if they're in CPT, but look them up.

The reputable guys will give you that guarantee with a maintenance clause as mentioned before me. Stephen Jones is one of the good guys. Pricey but good. Unfortunately I don’t know too many roofing guys.
I’ve got a cousin that does roofing as well and I personally use him (or his guys when he allows) for roofing.
He however does not offer the long guarantees like the bigger guys do. The bigger guys have agreements in place with suppliers which is partly why they can give the guarantees.

I’ll be doing the sika accreditation course soon which will make me sika approved for waterproofing. Maybe I’m future I’ll get me some skilled roofing guys and get them accreditation as well so that we can start tackling big roofing jobs.

Quick one guys, I'm pressure washing my paving and want to know what is the best sand to use to refill the grooves / joins in the paving?

Thanks

In other news, my project nightmare still hangs in the balance, I will see if work starts back up tomorrow, but at this point seriously considering what I need to do to a.) Get my job done, and b.) Deal with the issue of effectively losing money

Anyone having issues with plans being submitted in Durban?

I've had my plans drawn up by a draughtsman and he states that with the new online submission for plans, it's been a headache getting a receipt number from the department to confirm it has gone through on their side.

They laid the majority of the slab today, there have been a few hiccups but so far builder and I have had good problem solving sessions and compromises on both ends.
