What would be the best wood option for bathroom cabinets/vanity above basins? Higher so slightly more moisture.

Will the water from that down pipe not erode the cement between the pavers?

I did ask the question, will be fine as per the installer.

That being said, I am looking at doing new gutters so will keep this in mind thanks.

EDIT: Just checked there is a bit of a slope on the other side of the pipe so in theory it should drain away.

But the water exiting at that speed onto the paving will surely erode the cement probably within one raining season.

I dont have much experience in this regard but my one gutter had a leak between the 2 gutters and the paving underneath had no more cement after a short while.

Just keep it in mind and keep an eye on it.

No leaks on the overflow pipe and the last time I peeped my head into the roof I saw that the drip tray was bone dry.

I have slight water hammer on my cold tap in my garage, and the hot tap in the en suite bathroom (opposite side of the house) will splutter in a very strange way - if I open the tap half way, the water will flow until the water starts getting warm. Once it's hot, the water flow stops. If I then turn the tap open another 1/4 turn it gushes out as if I opened it full blast - however, I do think this is a tap washer problem but stand to be corrected.

Knocking, is possibly a loose pipe somewhere on that section.

The water stopping as it heats up is most likely a worn out or torn washer in the tap, had the same issue in my shower recently. When replacing it I noticed it came out in two separate circles and decided to replace all of the washers in all of the taps the house (almost R60 later) and I found a few nasty ones, especially on the ones in the permanent open position taps, such as the cistern fill taps.

I've noticed mold buildup on some of our window frames (wooden). Is there something I can treat them with? Other than cleaning and opening them more during the day obviously. :p

I just used a bleach solution for mine as I noticed the same thing last week. Just mix one part bleach to three parts water and you're good. I used one of those cheap garden spray bottles. Just spray, leave for a few minutes and wipe the frame

Yea we usually use a concoction made with vinegar and baking soda but I was wondering if I should treat it some some form of specific varnish, seeing as it is wood

If it is varnished wood then it might be good to sand it down to the wood and recoat with the varnish. My frames are painted that's why I could use the bleach solution. But try that and see if it works for you

Does anyone have any recommendations for a good, affordable painter in Johannesburg (Sandton area).

Thanks
