@Arzy your home looks Artsy. Jokes, it's beautiful.

:ROFL::ROFL::ROFL:

My wife and I have a very simple style. Almost everything is in the house is either leather or wood.

Color gets added to the house through the paintings.

Which brings to mind that we may be repainting the interior some time soon again.

It looks like everything is in it's place / a place for everything. Very neat.

Edit, i guess no kids ?

Oh how I wish I had that luxury... even with no kids my house looks like a bomb shell...

The missus is "crafty" so there is just projects all over the place.

Nah, two kids, we just threaten them regularly with dumping their stuff in the trash.

Wife and I are slight neat freaks so we also tend to pick up things as we go.

That's beautiful.

It's a huge area to try and warm though and it doesn't look as if it's designed to sit there and relax.

Just a thought - maybe install a fancy flueless fire to look GORGEOUS and concentrate on warming a living room?

Maybe even reduce the size of that structure making sure to maintain its integrity. It would open the area up and let more light in.

Trying to get away from gas, remember?

As part of the planning we are playing with the idea to move the dining table away from there into the bar area and then move the couches from there to near the fire and do a reading nook.

As much as everyone seems to hate the concept, I'm actually loving the look of this thing! It's rated for 11kw+ in heat so it should warm up 300m2

Changed a gate today... this one was fitted proper!!
Apart from the bolts which we removed ur had this welded pin which was anchored into the wall so tight we had to cut it off.

Apologies for the poor pic. We want to move this tree as its too close to the wall and hurts our children.

One company we called says the tree is worth something and should not be dumped.

Another company says moving it is a 50/50 chance. They would be happy to move it to some other place in our garden .

So my questions.

Can this be replanted ?

If it is re-plantable , best type of location it needs to be moved to? I can't see a good location to move it - definitely keeping away from walls and children playing areas

Is there a value if we choose to sell it?

Those are pretty die-hard plants in my experience. I have two that's been replanted and both made it, but there is always a chance that they won't make it. Pretty easy to replant them

You could plant it in a very large pot in the meantime.

I removed a Strelitzia when I was busy with paving and fake lawn and put it in a large pot while I thought about what to do with it. This is almost 2 years ago and it's thriving in the pot, though I think it's probably time to replant or give away.

A very large concrete pot will cost about R400 from builders - not great quality, but it does the job.

Yeah I doubt that thing is worth anything, but you should be able to move it without too much hassle just make sure that you dig out a big enough section around the roots and it will have a very good chance of surviving.

I've moved a good number of cycads around my yard and they're notoriously fickle about that, and they've all survived quite happily.

Thanks folks. I think I am just gonna dump it. Never liked it anyway. The SO may disagree and force me to put into a pot plant. We shall see see how it goes.

We have a few cycads and while temperamental as I learnt on this forum, I see that they can be resilient too. Our gardener cut all the leaves on one - I nearly had a heart attack. a few weeks later it was growing again and today looks amazing ... On another (now that I trusted him) -- he transplanted one and split it at the same time. All three doing really well.

I'm going to be installing my carcasses tomorrow for my cupboards in the braai room and pantry.
The cupboard guys suggested using 6 x 30mm chipboard screws, but 6mm seems a bit thick to me.

Also, should I drill pilot holes for chipboard screws? Or can't I rather use cut-screws instead?

In some states in Australia it’s mandatory to wear a hard hat on construction sites, and contractors can be fined if they don’t, even for small renovation jobs.
