true that it looks removable, take it off until you use it
It's farking heavy, must be around 30kg at least. Surprisingly weighty for a few strands of iron bar. I wish I had the skills to fashion up a convex dome to close it and keep it locked.

Kitchen cupboards is big business. In real estate there’s a saying: kitchens sell houses.

however, as with most things, there’s a few tiers: diy the whole job yourself, partly diy, get the cheapo dude with a bakkie and some tools to do it or do it professionally with guarantees of workmanship and materials.

Unfortunately, you can have a high or low quality finish with all of those options, and ultimately good labor ain’t cheap.

I am capable of DIY as I have many years experience as a hobbyist carpenter, but not everyone has the skills, willpower or sometimes the confidence to DIY
I went the partly diy route - worked out to be about 30-40% cheaper than an average installer, but could have been done for even less than that fully DIY.

I just don't have enough patience to fit a million draw slides. I did 6 pairs on my one cupboard and man it's time consuming.

wht area are you in? i know someone who needs work that would be willing to do it for minimal cost

Does your area not have the trolley bins?

I didn't realise there are still areas that put out bags.
My neighbour moved here from the eastern cape (cant remember where exactly). He mentioned that his wife was confused when she saw the trolley bin and I questioned the service where he came from. He mentioned that they still had to put our bags, and even so the guys would never come on time and sometimes it was 3 weeks and a messy road before the dirt was collected. He feels so spoilt now lol

Well damn - Just had a plumber replace an old galvanised pipe from the main into our yard with a piece of polycop - will have to tell him to dig it back up and replace with something a bit more sturdy!
Oh no. Honestly I don't know wht they still sell the polycop. The pex pipe is not too expensive and works very well.

Looking to make a deck out by the pool area at some point... Has anyone used those deck planks and deck-squares from Leroy Merlin?

Would you recommend them or is it better just to go with a reputable installer? Am on a budget so can splurge all out as i also want to get a solar inverter and batteries installed sometime this year as well

Nope, no such luxury in the poorest province.

We are just fortunate to still have a bundle of 20 refuse bags thrown across our driveway every second month or so:coffee:

And I thought it was bad when our neighbourhood took forever to be upgraded from these to wheelie bins:

The problem with poly pipes is that it is a seamed pipe. Over time the pressure places too much stress on the seams and they tend to start opening and you end up with leaks.

That, and they're also ridiculous easy to damage.

My main feed was Poly for about 6 months, but the retards who did the installation initially managed to nick the pipe just a little bit so the pressure eventually burst the pipe at that point.

Every bit of plumbing in my house is now copper.

The previous owners left us one of these. I use it as my poor man's wheelbarrow when I cart around grass clippings and leaves.

Yes this seems to be the case.

You are welcome to quote me if you are in JHB :)

I'm looking for some1 in cape town that does 3D plans. It would be for an existing house that I will be renovating in the next couple of months.

I seen an add on fbk, where they charge R1000 - boundary wall, R1000 - Pool, R1000 - carport, What if I want all of the above ! surely architects don't charge for each addition.

They charge in different ways.. one guy charged me per square meter to be added, another guy had a fixed rate based on a table of stuff he had..

Why 3D plans though?

Surely you just want a set of plans that you can submit to the municipality?

Where is this advert on facebook? :p I was quoted some insane price for swimming pool.

I think you probably want a designer if you're trying to see what things could look like once completed. Also very helpful if the person knows what they're doing.

I find it really surprising that no one ever recommends architects they have used on this or any other forums. I have frequently asked here, on carbonite and even on WA groups of our complex. One gets lot of people saying they used architects but after that, it is big silence.

I sometimes wonder about this.
