My mom actually had the OG plans on hand. Hope this helps. Xs is the wall we would like to remove
That looks like a narrow structure with roof supports running between the walls with windows in.
If the roof falls in the direction I have indicated you are probably safe to remove the wall.
You can't really cut it out below ceiling height as with the door opening as you will need support to hold up the remaining brickwork.
The next step would be to cut the ceiling back along the length of the wall in order to see finally which way the timbers run and how the sub timbers that hold the ceiling board are fixed.
The sub timbers are probably connected to the wall so the ceiling will also need to be taken care of properly and made safe before taking out the entire wall from floor to the final top brick.
Basically you are probably safe but you will need to strip the ceiling a bit back to confirm, then take out the sub timbers connected to the wall, remove the wall and then redo the sub timbers and the ceiling.

Okay, thanks for the feedback. Yeah the rooms are roughly 4mx3m. The roof falls in the other direction, towards the windows.

We were thinking of cutting it the same height as the door opening

Have someone hopefully coming over the weekend to check it out.

It will probably simpler and definitely neater to remove the whole wall.
Leaving a strip against the ceiling will require a lintel running between two good supporting columns of brick underneath the brickwork you want to levitate.
Just rebuilding the ceiling after removing the entire wall will be simpler, cheaper and faster I'm sure.
I am presuming that the flat roof runs right over the wall you want to remove as opposed to being built up against it with a piece of that wall sticking above the flat roof?

Neither..

Not recommending these guys above specifically but, this is a job best left for the right equipment..

You can also hire the sander yourself from places like hire it etc..

Don’t use either of those to sand a floor. There are specialized tools for sanding floors, and companies that specialize in doing it as well.

100%, i sanded a section of my wooden floor at home and hired a drum walking sander.

I paid a guy who worked for specialists for a few years to sand and seal the floors.

Yeah, definitely don't try sand your floors with a normal sander..

Hire a drum sander, or pay someone else to come and do it for you.

I have this sander, its survived my gardener abusing it - so it must be pretty solid :p

(wouldn't use it for a floor though)

So for those who are invested in the ongoing rubbish bag saga, hereafter referred to as The Verge, check out Thursday evening's performance (rename the file to a .mkv extension)

And a sneak peek of the night's performance:

Send him a letter, with a blank paper with nothing else written on besides the following: "I know what you did last XXX..."

See if he will go a step further or if he'll stop.
My bets are he'll do it again with a bit of flair added.
Be sure to have your cam ready and waiting.

I've considered placing this footage on a cheap USB drive and popping it in his mailbox with the file written to it:popcorn:

I would do the following:

Go speak to him about it and ask him to stop and be nice and polite about it..

Then, if he does it again, post the video on the neighborhood WhatsApp group, explaining that you have asked him to stop..

A little bit of public shaming might be just what he needs to stop this nonsense..

He should learn a lesson now. My opposite neighbour used to put their bags in our bin AFTER it was emptied. I dumped the bags at their front gate and they stopped doing it.

So each time that the dude has been outside and I've hollered at him, he goes inside his house or disappears into his garden behind his walls. I think he knows that I know it's him doing it. Even times that I have seen him pulling his car out, the moment he spots me he either drives off or quickly locks his car and goes back inside his house.

I think the next step is going to be putting it on the neighbourhood groups, as suggested. I'm on a general Western Suburbs Telegram group but I haven't found the one local to our area yet. Our other neighbours are also reclusive so I haven't even been able to ask them if there is one.

Case in point yesterday, when there was a huge swarm of bees at our next-door neighbours' one gutter downpipe. I went and knocked on their doors and windows because I knew they were home but didn't get so much as an acknowledgement. Like, dude, I'm not trying to sell you something but I'd rather them be aware of it in case they have their dogs outside. Fortunately, the swarm dispersed a while later and didn't pose any harm to animals or such.

If you cant find the whatsapp group, its sometimes easier finding groups on facebook and then from there you can ask for invite to a whatsapp group. Sad that your neighbors are such shy people. Here where I am people are happy to talk, although far more so before covid.

Just wondering if anyone has had fibre cement planks or panels fixed to their palisade fence for more privacy? See them going up more and more in the area but just wanted some first hand feedback.

Thanks.

Just remember, while you want privacy, so do burglars looking to break into your property.. if your neighbours can't see what would be burglars are up to, they would be all the more tempted to get into your house..
