Looking good. Maybe look at LED downlights as part of the revamp to complement your solar system...
Led down lights in the kitchen, lounge and passage to the bedrooms already included in the project.

No idea what to do with the Turkish lights we got when we went there in 2012.

Try get the rooms done too while you're at it. There's no disruption apart from drilling some holes into the ceiling.

You can even split it from the main connection and add it to a separate switch if you'd like to keep the central light, that's what we did. And the down lights with the integrated LED are cheap, like R50-R70 each...

Will see. Budget is already stretched for this renovation and expecting a bit of cost overruns.

This house still has metal pipes running in the walls for all the wiring. I think it was built in 1976.20220307_190255.jpg

Anyone interested in some Turkish chandeliers? These I bought in Cappadocia when I was there in 2012.

I have 2 x 5 lights and 1 x 3 lights.

Prices from what I could find online. 20220307_084728~2.jpgScreenshot_20220308-144934_Chrome.jpgScreenshot_20220308-144902_Chrome.jpg

I have about 1.5m of board that needs to be edged and I have have the PVC banding. I only have wood glue and cable glue available. I would like to avoid going to buy a tin of contact adhesive just to use a it for such a small piece

Can either of those glues be used?

Nope.. contact adhesive is your best bet here.. pro-tip, go buy the contact adhesive from gelmar and while there, pickup a pvc band trimmer as well, to trim the excess once glue has dried..

You do not want to cut the banding with a knife, or a blade or something like that.. I mean, you can but, you can easily cut skew, cut the board and have a little hole next to the banding..

Chasing for electrical and plumbing works under way and started some skimming of the walls.

Underfloor heating for the lounge area (16m²) to be collected today and tiling to start tomorrow. 1646823086942.jpg

Eskom's crying :crying:

No more grid feedback from @AchmatK home powerplant.
I'm actually keen to see how this will impact my consumption.

I'm not intending to use it all that often.

It comes with a controller that I can connect to my phone and if its anything like my existing underfloor heating controller then I can set the temp for specific time slots so it will not run when not needed.

I also still have my wood fired fireplace for winter. Just need to order my annual 3 000 pieces of wood for winter. Have about 500 pieces left from last year.

The cost for the 16m² and the controller was R5 500.

Underfloor heating setup and waiting for the screed to dry.

I don't think this will turn on until we deep into winter. I still need to set the times and program it to work from the schedule. Screenshot_20220310-125711_Smart%20Life.jpg20220310_122654.jpg
