Replace the sand with reusable filter fabric.. forget what it's called.. you just rinse the fabric filter blocks out every now and then and you never need to waste pool water to clean sand..

This is on my to do list. Just such a mission getting the current sand out of the filter .

No idea.
If my pool pump and cleaner are working OK and the pool is blue I don't really care to be honest.
Else every few years or so when something inevitably goes wrong with the pool I have the guys replace it. But like every 5 years at best.

That's why I just went with a pool service.

It's not just the weekly maintenance, that's easy enough for me to do.

But if something needs fixing or replacing, I just buy it and he sorts it out. And chemicals are included, which like 50% of the monthly fee on it's own...

What chemicals? You drop a floater, maybe some chlorine and check the balances. That's about the only time you'd need chemicals.

Aaag, product stickers... the bain of my DIY life!
I know the usual tricks with Q20, hot water, etc, but honestly, the stickers really don't have to withstand a shuttle re-entry...

Just did a closed display shelf project on 2 full walls in the study, with a combination of shelf brackets and wall bands/brackets. 12 wall bands, 20 shelf brackets and 64 wall band brackets.
Each had 2 stickers, the manufacture one that will not budge and the store one that'll withstand a tug-of-war team... crazy.
Spent the most part of 2 full weekends removing them before I could even start the project!

And they're never on the side that's hidden.

Anyone feel similar?

Soak in cold water and the labels peel off easy.

Yep, I know the feeling. Had a good laugh with your choice of words.
It reminded me of painting and the fact that the place you don't want it to stick too, one cannot get it off. That said, where you need the paint to stay, it comes off so easilly.

So true!

my pool isnt very blue and clear but not green or murky

i have a clear block im going to throw in and see

Thx, tried cold, warm, hot water and they didn't budge... eventually used my thumb nail to slowly scrape off the label itself, then Q20 oil to remove the sticky.

I used a hairdryer to loosen the glue on some big ugly stickers on jerry cans a few years back, worked well enough

TIL you can't just go into a retailer to buy a few drawers with sliders. Only Leroy Merlin seems to sell them but too expensive.

New place hasn't got enough kitchen drawers so I wanted to screw sliders into the cupboard sides (where the shelf support holes are) and slide drawers in.

Why on earth aren't these available off the shelf - just a few standard sizes - 400mm, 450mm and maybe 500?
