Yeah it can be a PITA without a doubt...

I suppose I have a smaller pool, so taking the cover on and off isn't as much of a PITA really.

I now toss mine in the top loader (without soap) once a year.

Yes same with safety nets, you never swim because its too much work. When kids was smaller and I needed a net, I build a metal frame over the pool. Basicaly two 4x3m squares connected with hinges in the middle and the net connected to the frame. Then if you want to take a quick dip, you just flip half over or flip twice to open the whole pool. Took 20 sec to open or close.

For me the Pool Skimmer that fits onto the water outlet works best, it catches a lot of leaves. The pool gobbler didn't work very well and the nets quickly tear.

I tried the one that connect into the kreepy line as well, but that takes some of your suction away from the kreepy and all those leaves also go into your normal weir basket. So you have to empty it more often.

Where did you break yours?

I have only used two types. The one that attach to the pipes works OK but it only catch leaves that is on the pool floor and basically would have just went to the weir bucket, so kind off pointless.
I have used the one on the outlet with the pantyhose sock for years, and its works well. Each sock only last a month or two, but they not that expensive, something like R20 each

We have a PoolSkim. The first one lasted more than 15 years. Before that, we tried various other options, but none come closer to this one.

PS: I know that it needs a clean - waiting for conducive weather

You guys talking about swimming covers. Is this a deep fake or you got some fancy covers that gets activated by sound or some voodoo ?

So mine is the same as this one - the creepy climbs the wall, wedges in-between and eventually breaks it off the wall.

Last year it broke the inlet threads clean off the wall - I fixed it with those inserts with the sand/little stones on - and now its broken that off as well.

I've tried different directions - tried mounting it further/closer to the wall - it keeps happening. (even does it with different creepys)

How is this a deep fake? (or was it a joke?) the guy put a rope on, to make it easier to unroll it. You can see him pulling it with a tiny rope towards himself. Quite smart actually. Still, doesn't make it easier to roll up the cover.
 
Why the need for new sand? Just wash and replace. It is a k@k job for sure but the only reason for new sand would be laziness? And don't use bare hands for scooping out the sand. Just trust me on this one :D:crying:

That cover will have fun in Cape Town during the windy season. I have the floating bubble type and the wind even gets hold of that from time to time.

eh - I mean everyone here is talking about how difficult it is to roll/unroll a pool cover and that is main reason why people don't swim and this looked simple to me.

Does fine here in Durbanville. But noisy but it stays in place. Although I have seen a video from another suburb where it was ripped off by the wind and smashed up windows on a house or something. Damage was nasty.

Well our pool is bigger than that tiny splash pool in the video.

The roll up is where I get lazy. That unrill trick will definitely help if it works as well on the bigger pool.

Leather gloves and by hand tbh. But I saw a pump (similar to a prawn pump) at Brights last year. Wasn't worth the cost vs how often it would be used. Some may think differently about that though. When I was in high school our pool filter had the membrane filters that had to be washed and then treated with diatomaceous earth. Endless hassles to get the thing to seal properly. I far prefer the sand filters.
