Home from holiday and new braai area is mostly finished:

+1 on cutting the entire water inlet pipe and starting from scratch. The more adaptors and connectors you use, the greater the chance of future leaks.

Also, +1 on owning an oil filter spanner. Very useful for unscrewing big things. Automotive ones will have a nice socket on the side instead of that silver handle in the pictures above. This will allow you to use a ratchet and socket instead of trying to unscrew it by hand.

Only saw your question now but no, I cant recall the name but any builders or brights etc should stock it. Its a selective pesticide.
 
*mutter* I fully understand why home renovations end so many relationships.....

Keerist, the missus and I are on totally seperate ends of the scale when it comes to bathroom/bedroom renovations (well almost everything renovations wise actually but hey)
 
Guys, I want to lay some concrete down in the area where my car parks which is under an awning. Do you know if there are any plans etc which are required for this in Dbn?

I may be mistaken but i highly doubt it so long as there is no foundation. it would be the same as paving the area.

Do you have kids?
Speaking from experience moms and dads drag their kids into the arguments as well and there is no good/safe answer.
 
So on my way to get the hack saw the other day I got the notification that the call was logged with the insurance. Five minutes here and he cut the damn thing. Only positive is that I gave him the flex pipe to fit so next time it is just a simple swap.

Big win this week was cleaning up the pool. Kids were able to swim yesterday. Yay for me!

Nope..... Thankfully no kids to drag into the arguments...

The argument revolves around a small structural change she wants to make... And doesn't understand that the small change itself would cost the same as a whole bathroom to do...
 
What is going rate for floor tile installations these days? Would need to include stripping of old tiles
R200 per square too low?

My Mrs and I have very similar tastes and styles so it's easy, the only problem is she doesn't understand the concept of a budget . Get a R1000 per sqm tile it looks nice .

On that front I also have that issue...

I have a budget and look at the price of an item before I look at the item itself, she works the other way round and then gets upset when we can't get what she wants.

I would say R120 per sqm (excluding tiles and adhesive) would be a good figure for stripping and laying new.
