If my wife was coloured there would be no knives in the house also I would also never do anything myself, though then you might just get stabbed for being lazy.
 
Has anyone ever converted their hip roof joints to gable - or seen it done?

We're playing with the idea of building a loft room space upstairs but would need to have a gable roof to have actual usable space.

Shaded blue block would be the roof space we'd get if we converted our roof.

I tested mine over the last few days. Seems to spit out around 2 litres of water a day. Does not leak constantly, so I am assuming it is doing its job.

Mine was spitting out about 5 to 10 liters until I had it replaced at the beginning of the year, it was dry for right up until the really last couple of weeks with the cold and now it seems to be spitting out about 2l again.
Thinking it's the thermostat packing up

Keep us posted if you do find an issue, or a solution. I will keep monitoring the outflow, and update should I make any changes.

Well the issue last time was an old pressure relief valve, plumber is coming tomorrow to check to make sure.

Looks farming expensive to do that.. mind you, don't see how you wouldn't make back the investment if selling on..

A few houses in my area have done similar, but would of course need to weigh it up before the time.

You'd be better off building a new house the way you want and selling this one as is.

Changing a roof is a ****ing nightmare, and I'll never ever go through the myself again. Nor would I ever wish it on my worse enemy.

Yeah, and doing it properly is most likely going to have some seriously high costs. What roof changes did you make and what was the worst part about it?

I went from a flat roof on a single story, added a second story and put up a pitched roof. Was supposed to take 45 days by a reputable Joburg building company, ended up taking 4.5 months. Then the troubles really started: leaking roof, had to replace ceilings, cracks in the new walls. Just a disaster and cost me an absolute fortune. I didn't recover the money when I sold the house either.

You are looking at R9000 a square meter.

well the roof is probably a very expensive part of the building cost, plus it is more than just building, there is stripping etc, imo a modification like this would be way more labour than a new structure.
