Anyone ever tried to repair scratches on formica kitchen tops?
Not in a position to replace them just yet.

Pratley wonda fix may be your best bet.. or some form of filling agent like it.. not sure about the food safe aspect though..

It's been bothering me and I'm on a DIY mission at the moment.

Anyway, so did the spray thing last night. At first I thought I messed up as it didn't look even after the first few layers. However just kept going adding layer after layer (waiting in between for it to dry first) until I emptied the can.

Pretty happy with the results. Just a looooot of the white powdery dust that goes everywhere to deal with afterwards, so my tip will be to clear the room as much as possible first so that it's easy to cleanup afterwards.
Can you give name of product please. Seem to have missed it, thinking I could use on my front glass door. Thx

Hi Everyone,

Can anyone recommend someone in the Johannesburg area to install cornices? I've used a guy previously a few years ago however he now has a minimum call out fee/charge of R2100. I have a small area that needs to be installed (10m in total length).

Any help will be much appreciated.

Thanks.

Gold plated cornices?!? Comes with a special massage at least?!?

It looks like I'm going to be renovating again - I think I've asked this before way back... but here goes again.

1.) I'm going to brick up this glass door - and put in a normal internal door on the right side - any ideas of cost for the building (bricking up, plastering - I'm an expert painter by now) ? Any tips? I might find the "help" myself - I've had no luck getting companies in at exorbitant rates.

2.) In the same picture above - I need to fill the pit - under the fake grass is concrete - do I break that out, and then fill with rubble and partial damp course - the final plan is to vinyl the flooring.

3.) What are the chances of successfully salvaging the tiles along the border? I'd like to use them on the one side of the new wall, so it doesn't just look like a wall was built on top of the tiles.

Also - is it possible to cut tiles in place? (again - along the new wall to make space for the border tiles)

4.) Any quick tips on blacking out the glass door? I want to see the affect the bricking up will have on the light in the lounge.

Quiet in here - quick q. I have a switch, it has L1 COM L2 connections. (its a one way switch). How is this connected up to a light?

Have you considered covering the pit with a wooden decking instead of filling it up..? Just need some joists and a sheet of plywood.. self leveling screed over the entire floor area and then you can vinyl..

As for blacking out the glass door, get some craft cardboard from PNA or the like and tape it to the glass..

Hi, anyone know if this is legal? Flat twin with earth coming out of the soffit like this... then connected inside a box on a flood light.

Weird part is - there's no switch. It's always on - via a circuit breaker for lights. Is that legal?

I don't know if it is legal or not, but one of the buildings I have done some work in (a factory) was wired like that, although going through a day/night switch.
Personally I prefer having a switch in place.

Yea the light that was there had a DIY button switch added to the floodlight - don't think that's legal.

Just wondering whether to replace with a motion floodlight with sensitivity settings / no hard switch which I have already. Else I remove the wiring. I'm selling, just trying to reduce the impending CoC costs (though this is how I bought the house).

In theory the warehouse should of also had a COC, and the supply to the light can be interrupted, so I would fit the light and see what happens.

Amazing how something basic like cardboard escapes us... I was thinking black bags, news paper, etc...all which still let light through.

Re: the hole, I'd like to fill it with something solid, last thing I want is moisture or something causing the wood to rot.

There's also an electrical cable in there I need to chase back to the walls to put in plugs, so going to have to crack some of it open.

Didn't you recently make that pit?
