This yeah... even I go to small claims court for the R20k max.. he can just say he has no money and can only afford R100 a month and will pay it over the next 15 years.
Maybe i must phone Mike, that security oke in Pretoria. Send his goons to fck up this p0es builder.

When I wanted to do our kitchen financed via Investec they had exceptionally strict requirements from both myself, as well as the building company used - so much so that I didn't use them. BUT - I now know why they had the requirements.

Not one of the builders I've used would have made it through. I should actually ask them if they have a list of approved building/renovation companies.

Total cost of job comes to around R7k/sqm... I don't think that's on the peanuts end of the scale.
The frustration you are feeling now - Let it flow through you the next time you need work done. Cross examine them in direct proportions to what they cost and are claiming is doable.

However, to do this you must understand what is cheap/avg/expensive in the market for whatever work you intend to have carried out - and herein lies the challenge of committing time to read up on the work to be done.

I cannot understand how anyone who does this kind of roofing can even claim to be a roofing expert. Ah yes, the sales guy/owner/contractor might have a little bit of something called logic, but if he doesn't even bother to employ a competent team to do roofing (!), then how are we to expect of him to do a proper job managing his workerbees.

Looks like they lifted the tiles and upon re-laying they started from the top and bottom of the roof, then met up and realised they have a "problem" and managed to "solve" it in there own little way.

A reading I would very much recommend in this instance: https://www.sans10400.co.za/roofs-l/

I feel so sad/angry for you @SAguy :crying::mad::crying::mad:

To be messed around like this and there's absolutely nothing you can do about it except maybe name the company so other people are warned.

That was a big job and they've screwed up every aspect of it.

Yip - and if you try take them to court - they just "go bankrupt" and start again.

With my kitchen - the lawyer I saw said we can go ahead - but probably won't get anything out of it - even if we win.
Yep, been through this.
I was lucky I got a lawyer involved just before they decided they are bankrupt. Managed to get about 90% done.

In my case it was worse. The kitchen guys and the guys they used for the granite both went bankrupt. So I had to get other people to finish the job.

Anybody else use Activator D product for their swimming pool before?

We've been struggling to get and keep our pool nice and blue and clear with Blu52 for a month and also products recommended by The Pool Team shop.

Wife reached out on her Vleisboek for advice and quite a few people recommended Activator D.
So we got some on Saturday after work and emptied the 2 x bottles into the weir as instructed.
Ran the pump for about 6 hours before switching off.

Woke up and the pool looked a million times better. Ran the pump again for about 3 hours in the morning while we went shopping.
Best the pool has ever looked.

And can't explain it but the water feels softer. Even the kids saying the water feels different and no irritation to their eyes.

Here is hoping it will last the month they claim on the bottle.

Before and after.

And what's happening there ?
They screwed up the sewerage plumbing, so I had to remove all the skirtings and vinyl planks and they need to chop through the slab to fix it. Not only that, they also need to chop out the guest en suit bathroom.

Pools are trick AF. What works for your pool might not for mine - I've had really good results with the Poolbrite Month Mate. I think what also helps me is that we have a PVC cover on the pool but since we turned it from green its been clear

Yeah last year my pool kept going green despite the pump running up to 12 hours a day. Even when having the water tested they couldn't tell me what was wrong. Drove me nuts.

This year my pool is bright blue. Changes I made was to get a backwash tank to recycle the water (which just means I have significantly increased the amount of times I backwash because now I don't loose water) and replaced the sand in the filter. And now the pump only runs 4 hours a day. Having a pool really helps to get through lockdown!

Definitely.

We don't have a cover and getting a cover made for that size and shape pool is ridiculous.

But I have to say. Never seen such quick results as with the product we used on Saturday.
And it claims to last for a month.

I'll keep you guys updated.

On the topic of pools though, I had my old pool fiberglassed about 5 years ago. However, I've noticed some spots where the top layer of fiberglass has come off - size of a R5 approx. Mostly on the stairs and 4 other places. It's not leaking or anything though, I think it's just a top layer (about 0.5mm). Is this something that can be fixed easily or how would you guys approach it?
