Hi all, wasn't sure where to ask, but can this Sonoff POW 16A version possibly be used to schedule my geyser to turn on and off?

The current geyser timer unit has died, so as I have one of these Sonoff's spare, thought maybe I could use it instead. The geyser breaker on the DB is 20A though, so not sure if the 16A Sonoff would work? I suppose it would knacker the Sonoff before tripping the breaker if something went wrong...

Might even cause a nice fire in the roof.
Geyser is outside mounted vertically on the wall, covered and has a dedicated electrical box next to it, which I assume runs directly from the DB breaker ;)
What's the geysers rating?
Not sure how do I find out? I think it's 200l or 250l, but cannot see any other info on it and it's covered in one of those foil heat blankets...

I'd imagine on that size - your element might be a problem. I have 150L geyser, with a 3kw element - it seems to draw max 3.2kw.

I'm also running my geyser outside on the wall, with a Sonoff POW2 - been running for ages now without issue. I did spend quite some time making sure the wiring was 100% though, even replaced the original wall box I bought so I had more space to work.

Thx, going to try and find more details. I know it was replaced years ago, maybe I have the receipts somewhere. Will see if I can find anything else marked on the unit itself.

What is the going rate for tiling per square?
A very rough rule of thumb used to be the same value as the tiles per square. So if you bought tiles at R120/square, you can expect to pay more or less the same for installation labour. This is obviously dependent on the current flooring / walls, whether it's green fields, or whether there are old tiles and cement to be removed. And then there are things like doors (cupboards as well as doorways) and skirtings which may need to be adjusted / renewed to the new floor height.

Can't find anything on the unit at all, other than it's a Kwikot. Based purely on the dimensions it seems to be a 150l.

The insurance invoice I found from when they replaced it years ago shows a 200l though, so I may have been ripped off a bit if they installed 150l!

That said, most older 200l units I've reviewed online have larger diameter and length dimensions than ours, even the slimline ranges, so probably a 150l then...

Any suggestions?

What is the cheapest tipe of wood/boards to build basic cupboards /shelving. Must be neat but don't need to be kitchen quality.

My guess would be white melamine but even that has gone up to ~R500 per board.
Used to be R360 per board when I first done room BIC about 3 years ago

Ya white melamine would probably be the cheapest. But will also require edging. Otherwise you can look at shutter ply.

Check if any of the hardware stores are running any specials on either of them.

Why not see what flat pack options exist in your area... Will be more Expensive obviously but will save boatloads of time.

Hi everyone,

What process would I need to follow if I wanted to add a small scullery to my kitchen? Would I first need plans drawn up by an architect?

Roughly what cost per sqm would I be looking at for everything start to finish? (plans, labour, materials etc)

Thanks

First step would be to get an architect usually yes. Cost / sqm can vary a lot, smaller areas can sometimes work out more expensive.

I just built on 80sqm, price worked out to about R7k/sqm

Out of interest, why such a specific colour?

You will probably need to go to an automotive paint shop I reckon to get that mixed... and then take a small amount to a normal home paint store to colour match.

Normal paint stores don't work in RBG or anything like that...
