My geyser just suddenly started tripping the earth leakage.

Thermostat and element replaced, no change.
Removed isolator at geyser to see if that's faulty, no change.
Wired a lamp straight into the power before the isolator, still trips.
Switched breakers in db, still trips earth leakage.
During all the testing the only thing I didn't disconnect was the earth wire, running to the geyser.

So it's got nothing to do with the geyser, isolator or wiring between isolator and geyser.

Any ideas? Getting a sparky to come look tomorrow....

Not a sparky, but it sounds like a neutral to earth fault to me.
 
Anyone have a garage door with springs on both sides of the door?
I need to see how the spring and pulley that connects to the bottom of the door sit.
Seems like my springs are scraping against the track, so something must have gone wrong somewhere.

Like this one, 2 springs on each side of centre, and pulley on each side?

I had a garage door like that, I guess your door is a tip up door? when I tried to get it serviced a few years ago, three garage door company and maintenance people I contacted said that it's no longer possible to service or get parts. Anyway , I ended up replacing it with roll up type door which has been better but annoyed that I had to replace door.

if i understand you correctly you have a door that retracts up parallel to the roof?

the springs are meant to kinda just hang next to the rails when not under tension

Maybe issue with wiring (e.g. damaged insulation) between DB and isolator?

As can be seen in the last pic, the spring scrapes on the track.
It looks like there needs to be something to keep it spaced out.
 
So my little project to have a built in braai built has kicked off with first consultant and quote received.
Context is I would like a typical braai area, built up brick supports for lintelled top. Then walls built straight up where the actual braai would be fitted into, additionally plumbing for a wash basin to be fitted to the top. Now this is not a rant about cost, more a price check cause this quote hit me a bit. Just short of 100k excluding the actual braai and pizza oven. Now I've been made aware that a foundation needs to be laid to support entire structure and I've agreed to get the demolishing of any things close by, done myself. So that's about the scope of this. Is that truly the going rate for something like this? Also previously I have been told if you want something done right you have to pay top dollar, is this the case?
 
I dont know anything about the cost of stuff, but damn, R100k for a built in braai (with wash basin and pizza oven) sounds like a lot.

Hope the other learned members can shed some light on this, else the stand alone seems like a viable option for the long haul.

Thanks, can you take a pic of the pulley like in my first pic.
I think they left out a bracket to hold the line above that pulley. It's basically tied at the same height as that pulley.
That should lift everything up away from the track.

How big is this job. 100k seems super excessive, feels like should be max R25k (no science to this number just what I would be willing to pay based on everything else I have done :P) Do you have a schematic/plan of the because maybe that helps.

For 100k (excl braai and pizza oven!) I would just order UberEats for the next 10+ years...would work you out cheaper!

We've just had 80m2 renovations which included new build (tiled roof) and granny flat conversion from garage.
Just labour and basic materials (no finishes) was about R350k...

So R100k for a braai seems steep.
